Syagrus kellyana phots for John in Andalusia

Back in 2010, a group of us went in on seeds for a newly ID'd palm: Syagrus kellyana. I ended up with two surviving seedlings and in 2011 I planted both in a planter box on our newly purchased garden lot. They have thrived and grown over the years. So far they haven't succumbed to the fusarium wilt that wiped out all my queens, mules and a W. robusta. I'm hopeful they are immune. Today I took the following photos of one of my kellyanas. They are much smaller than a queen, particularly the trunk, which is shorter and much thinner. They have a full crown of dark green leaves. Neither palm has flowered yet.

Thanks Meg. Looking good!

I was ranting on earlier about acquiring seeds of S. kellyana for the second time, when I should have said S. lorenzoniorum - which I've read was also described as a new species in 2010. I don't  recall the same fuss over seed availability as S. kellyana, although it appears they are both in the same group as S. picrophylla. It makes me wonder what difference in characteristics a palm must possess to be more than just a variant.

Not familiar with S. lorenzoniorum. I stopped seeking Syagrus spp after wilt killed off my queens and mules.
