This palm sits beside one of my S. kellyanas. I planted both in a large planter box on our newly purchased garden lot in 2011. I almost never see this species talked about or in other photos shoots, so I figured it was time it got 15 minutes of fame. S. flexuosa is usually a clustering palm, rarely solitary. I am fortunate to have a solitary one. I've had it 8-9 years and it's shown no sign of clustering. Early in its life, it was plagued with nutritional issues, which made me jigger with its fertilization and micro nutrients. It seems to have overcome most of those problems. It grows very slowly and is perhaps 6' tall overall, with a 3' trunk. Periodically, it flowers and produces small numbers of large seeds. However, I've  so far had no luck germinating any of them. It's attractive in a shaggy sort of way and deserves more space in gardens.
