I never germinated a Christmas Palm before and I have some seeds. The guy who gave them to me said that he germinated them before (and still has them) just by throwing them in a community pot and watering them every other day. Would this work? Also, do I need to remove the fruit? The ones I have are filled with open gaps in the fruit, so you can see a little of the actual seed on each one.

Just did 100 of them just over a year ago, I took the pulp off mine and put them in community pot,a bit of heat will make them germinate faster.

I had to separate them pretty quick, there tap is pretty long too.

I second that - over here they just fall off and germinate at a reasonable percentage.

It should be warm, some "rain" from time to time, that`s it!

Over here we have tropical summers and subtropical winters - to describe our climate roughly.

Some pictures I took a while ago at an almost maintenance-free spot:

I hope this helps somehow,

They are easy germinators given plenty of warmth. You need a pot at least 6" deep.

Fresh seeds usually start germinating while being soaked in warm water.

I collected the seeds myself, cleaned them, I even took fibres off some seeds just to experiment. Soaked them for 3 days in warm water. I could see the roots popping out on the fibreless ones already. Then -> ziplock bag with moist vermiculite and onto the heating mat. Germination rate 100% and it took up to 1 month.

Good luck :)!
