I looked through Andrew Hara's online photo gallery for eruption relief.  It's painfully beautiful, best seen in slideshow mode, and, as noted, provides documentation both for the present, to present accurate views of what has been happening, and for the future.

Andrews's album is different than the one I saw a few days ago or maybe a second one. I love the time line perspective and found I could spend a lot of time reflecting and seeing things maybe I hadn't noticed when many of these images were shared before way back when. So many I like for different reasons.

I saw a post on fb Hawaii Tracker group this morning before heading out for coffee that I really wanted to share here. It was from Jason Twillerman (his home is down off Hwy 132 and the one with the huge lava tube on the property that saved his farm and home from being completely covered, still looking good from the maps). I really hope you take the time to listen to the song with the video playing in the background. Very moving, impactful lyrics and beautifully sung and played. I was moved. Hard not to IMO if you have lived this event through the social media with these guys on the ground. Give it a listen and see what you think, donate if you are so moved.

Since not all fb posts here end up being viewable I'm going to post the direct link hoping it will be accessible for you. If not I'm sure you can reach it directly by going to the fb Hawaii Tracker group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/hawaiitracker/ ) and looking for Jason Twilerman's post above.

BTW I'm pretty sure in early footage that Jason posted, when the lava outbreak had reached their area and his neighbors, that it was Drew and Katie's property that he saw being taken by the lava and had him breaking down filming it.

His song is downloadable from cdbaby for $.99 and you can check out as a guest if you prefer, use a credit card, paypal or even mail them a check. To me this song is a ballad for the eruption. No problems downloading and playing btw.

Video shared by fb Emil Lynch showing the F8 side lava pool that the HUB guys were discussing recently. Think it was John Stallman who called this area mini-F8 and commented on the waves it was producing indicating it must be fairly deep to be able to produce waves like he saw.

Had a busy day and have some catching up to do. But I did want to post the latest USGS updates at least.

Alert as of today at 5:05pm HST (8:05pm PDT) --wow most current! and some changes noted --  https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/status.html

Not all of the text but this was pretty significant to call out:

"Early this afternoon observers reported multiple overflows occurring along both sides of the main lava channel, in an area extending from near the "Y" intersection at Pohoiki Road eastwards to an area just west of Kapoho Crater. Overflows on the upper part of the channel did not extend beyond areas previously covered in lava. Overflows further down the channel have reached beyond the flow field, including one flow lobe that is moving northeast from the main channel towards Cinder Rd.

Residents are urged to heed warnings and notices from Hawaii County Civil Defense.

Based on information from ground observers and morning and afternoon overflights, the lower part of the main lava channel has undergone significant reorganization. In particular, the channel that had been open near Four Corners is now mostly crusted over, and plumes from ocean entry are significantly reduced. It is likely this is due to a blockage that formed in the early morning in the main channel upstream of Kapoho Crater. Flow volumes coming out of Fissure 8 remain significant, and it is possible that changes in flow channels will continue to occur in the coming days."

"Magma continues to be supplied to the Lower East Rift Zone. Seismicity remains relatively low in the area with numerous small magnitude earthquakes and low amplitude background tremor. Low amplitude tremor increased slightly on June 29 associated with renewed activity at Fissure 22. Higher amplitude tremor is occasionally being recorded on seismic stations close to the ocean entry.

Additional ground cracking and outbreaks of lava in the area of the active fissures are possible. Residents downslope of the region of fissures should heed all Hawaii County Civil Defense messages and warnings."

Photo updates as of Mon. 7/9. In addition to the cauldera collapse, they had this photo of the rain storm that Scott said started last night and was still going in the morning when he was filming, and the one of F8 and the southern portion of LE. Additional photos at the website.

Photos: US Geological Survey

5b44286242ba6_rainmonday-1.thumb.jpg.4a2

and there was this one. Clearly F8 is still very active. The last house shown on the far right is the last house on Malama at lower LE.

5b4428cde8c37_f8LE-1.thumb.jpg.8a6fabf8b

The Map was updated as of Monday at 2:00pm HST (5pm PDT). Probably the most flow we've seen updated on the map in a while. The HUB guys were hoping the flow wouldn't go northeast around the old crater there where there's a cemetary around the backside, but it's headed that way too and onto the 1960 flow.

Maps: US Geological Survey

5b44285dc1a83_Map-1(17).thumb.jpg.9c37ee

And seeing that the Thermal map dated July 8 as of 6am HST had not been posted from yesterday, here it is:

5b442c5073ec8_thermalmap-1(7).thumb.jpg.

and finally the lastest view from the PGV cam as of Monday, 5:45pm HST (8:45pm PDT): Note the glowing lava in the lava river at the bottom right--breakout. You can click on to enlarge slightly for a better view.

Then this posted on Hawaii Tracker group. BTW this was the topic of the update that Philip just gave on fb live ( if the above talk isn't visible, try this link: https://www.facebook.com/phil.hawaii/videos/10215621750158847/UzpfSTM1NzQ1NTU1NDQyMDI2OToxMDI1OTY2NjAwOTAyNDkx/ ).

5b44356ce1d72_cinderland-1.jpg.aee685fda

I am curious for anyone living in the area or knows it well, the google map image looks like there are quite a bit of structures in the landscape to the north of the lava river there around Railroad. How populated of an area is this? Hate to see even more people at risk. Philip did mention that they went door to door in the immediate area and advised people of the situation and that they should make evacuation plans should situation take a turn for the worse.

Looks like Philip is doing yet another update I think with input from Ikaika. Just went live a few minutes ago. ( https://www.facebook.com/phil.hawaii/videos/10215622387134771/UzpfSTM1NzQ1NTU1NDQyMDI2OToxMDI2MDM2OTE0MjI4Nzkz/ )

Philip indicates on his live feed that it's raining very heavy right now, weather report said 9 inches today. Making moving belongings right now difficult. He shows a video I haven't located yet of the lava river flow I think in LE, that is moving super fast right now and the flow is very high there. He is more concerned now for Cinderland after hearing the latest info on the braided flow being clogged. There are pilots in the air flying right now.

He reminds people that it only took 2 days for the lava flow to pretty much devastate Kapoho so strongly encourages people to take this seriously.

Not to take away from the immediate concerns over the Cinderland area and any residents there, but here's a post just made by fb Jody Silva of the area at F8 in yesterday's overflight. Definitely looks like lava is not only pouring out of F8's cone but additional lava flow coming from mini-F8 and reports are that while the banks were visible before the volume has increased and now there are more overflows.

Two more videos Philip Ong posted from Monday 7/9 updating the conditions.

This video below was at the HUB with Les Pedersen of Hawaii Tracker with aerial photos by pilot Scott Wilson of Aloha Skies Aviation.

and then a post Scott made 7 hours ago on another pass over the area. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1880698325315757&set=pcb.1026169050882246&type=3&theater&ifg=1

A few quick pics from Scott's post. An area with blockage that sent lava out of channel and into homes.

Very nice documentary piece by Leilani Estates' Demian Barrios. Interview with LE Deborah Kelley, who you might remember from a few articles posted in this thread about Sean King, her husband and lava tour guide/photographer who died on a lava flow back in February. Both had packed up and moved from NYC over a decade ago. Footage inside LE at F8, helicopter aerial footage, interviews with worker at the HUB and footage onboard Shane's Lava Ocean Tours.
