Has anyone been to Jewfish Key? The small island is just north of Longboat Key near Bradenton. There is a huge Polynesian style house you can rent. They say it is full of tropical landscaping and rare palms. Some customer reviews mentioned the unique flora. Curious how rare.

I have never even heard of the place before.

I would also be curious to see what is there, but there is pretty much no chance of me renting there (or even seeing it in fact) in the foreseeable future.

Looks interesting, I've been to that area plenty of times but never Jewfish Key itself. It has a great microclimate there so they should be capable of growing a lot.

Nice find! 1.5m isn't a bad deal for that. The only downside is you need a boat to get there... Florida's west coast actually has quite a few residential islands that don't have a bridge connecting them to the mainland. Most are in Lee and Charlotte Counties. Property on them tends to be fairly cheap so it isn't a bad option for a little vacation getaway.

Good drone footage of some of the landscape. Definitely some large coconut trees mixed in. Wonder how they fared this winter.

I'm sure they're fine. I've recently driven though AMI, Longboat Key, etc and none of the coconuts took any damage at all. Even the coconuts on the mainland around there look pretty good.

You can see it pretty well from Leffis Key, which is a spot on AMI that I like going to that has a small little beach without many people. I've always wondered what kind of stuff was on the island.

I'm not surprised about the vegetation. That area has an excellent microclimate.

The lushness stops very quickly from the main house. I see there's other houses on the island. I'm sure curiosity seekers (in boats) must venture ashore, too. I wouldn't like that. See the below two YouTube videos.

I wouldn't want to live there even if it was given to me. I can't imagine having to look at all those boats beached on the sandbar every low tide...and the noise and lack of privacy. NO THANKS!!

That doesn't happen there / So when you run make sure you run / To something and not away from

Cause lies don't need an aero plane / To chase you anywhere

I would live there, it would be a challenge to keep it free of trespassers but it can be done, and if I had the option to have my own island I would take it, especially one with a microclimate like this one. And not only the climate, but the simple beauty of the island, and that clear calm water.
