Hey everyone. My dear old mom bought me this beauty palm last month. She told me it was a bottle palm. Or am I wrong and it’s a spindle ?

Is this planted in Ontario?

Young bottle palms have dark green leaves and a lot of red in stem & petioles. Spindles have lime green leaves and yellow/gold highlights.

Matt, I think he has pot planted his bottle. I hope he has anyway.

Guys you can see the pot that it is in and yes but southern Ontario  palms are more common up here now. This one came from a highly respected greenhouse and of course guy I have done my research on my palms. I have a very nice place for my palms in the cold months.

Speaking of fronds. Just noticed the one frond is a tad yellow.  Now we had a cooler for a week. The soil has been moist but not dry. Today was 90 degrees and I watered all my palms. There is a slow release fertilizer in the pots. When I got the palm the roots were blowing through the pot so it was potted up about 1” larger a side and 2” deeper. Or is this Normal bottle palm and one frond is slowly decaying as the new one is about to sprout?

I guess I should also say that there are so many roots in the palm the only place I can dig my fingers in to check for moisture is the sides from the new pot
