I've had this big boy growing in the greenhouse for about 10 years. Suddenly, it puts out this new leaf. Like its trying to take over the world LOL. This leaf is a full 5 feet long (I measured it). I'm wondering how big we can get!

Three foot long leaves so far is the record for me.

Looking forward to 5 footers. Maybe with more humidity.

wow yours has a trunk! Mine may, can't tell, there are a to of aroids and things growing around the base. Also mine lives next to a stream that pretty much overflows daily so it gets extra water

When I bought mine several years ago, the twits that were selling it had the trunk, which was very much smaller, buried to the crown and they sold it to me as a basket fern. Thanks to the gods that basket ferns are 10 times cheaper than anthuriums of that size.

I have been growing my Anthurium schlechtendalii outdoors for a couple of years now.  I never seemed to catch the flower opening in the past and only notice it after it is drying out so thought I would grab a photo.  The friend I got mine from has a large one in the crook of a tree here in Encinitas.  I haven't seen his parent plant yet, but sounds like it has some very large leaves as well.
