I have a grouping of 5 Cycas thouarsii planted along a south facing wall on a street along my property, all planted at the same time from the same batch, and one other from the batch I put in another spot.  This spring/summer, three have identified their sex with male cones, and finally two more are showing the megasporophylls of female plants.  The one which was always the smallest may wait another season to identify itself.  I'm a bit relieved that at least two are female, as my wife keeps asking me when that musky smell from the three male cones will dissipate.  My big female in front of my Carlsbad home had an odor but not as pervasive as the males as I recall.  The photos in order:  the girls which are both flushing a few leaves with the megasporophylls, one of the boy cones, and my big girl in Carlsbad which now has multiple pups popping off in all directions.
