I am currently in Florida (West Palm Beach area). I am making this thread to share a lot of the palms that I see. Most of these palms are pretty common (especially to people who live in Florida). So here they are. I will post new pictures on this thread over time.

Palm Beach County certainly is nice. What's the occasion for going to S. Florida?

Vacation with family. It is really nice here, I am really enjoying the palms and the clear water at the beach! It has better clarity than I was expecting.

Once you hit the Treasure coast (Sebastian and Vero), the water clarity really increases and becomes Caribbean-like. Probably due to proximity to the gulf stream. Enjoy!

That's funny 'cause I felt the opposite when I moved from Cuba straight to Richmond, Virginia and went for first time to Virginia Beach. I was expecting the same clear water you find in Cuba, but to my surprise the water wasn't only freezing cold (for a Cuban of course) in the middle of the summer, it was also murky and didn't have the salty taste and smell I was used to. Even in South Beach the ocean doesn't smell like the Caribbean's sea, you pretty much have to drive to Key West to get that salty and fishy smell. But hey, I'm more than happy and honored to be in the USA. Seven years ago, I decided that I had had enough winter weather, so I relocated myself to the Sunshine state and I love it here.

For best water clarity in southeast FL you have to go to Miami Beach. In Palm Beach it's so so.

Water clarity in Destin FL today.

If I find some time to go check it out I will! But I am not sure if I will be able to, we have been at the beach most of the time, and if were not at the beach were within a mile or two of it.

There is a cool park with some naturalized and very very tall coconuts.

I thought this Sabal palmetto looked really nice. 153507509102637.thumb.jpg.772cfb16344df3

And is this a Sabal palmetto or something else? It has a smaller skinny looking trunk. 1535075091730581.thumb.jpg.7d6b004156f78

Don't miss the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden in Palm Beach, right on the intracoastal. Amazing rare palm collection, even a Coco De Mer!
