Travelers Palm doing the Twist

About 15 years ago I planted my Ravenala madagascariensis in the front yard in what I though was a south facing direction. About 4 years ago I noticed that it was starting to twist.  Today I went out with my phone, went to the Compass tool and sure enough it has twisted so that it is facing due South. It was showing me that I had planted it facing slightly the wrong direction years ago.  Any one else have this experience here in So Cal or anywhere else?

I have one growing in my highland garden. Its was planted as 2 meter tall plant 8 years ago. It was planted east-west and now I have noticed it is changing to north -south.

The ones in my beach garden were planted east-west 15 years ago and are still growing east west.

Mine was originally planted facing North east and has in the last 5 years turned to face full west.

I guess that I should clarify... It did not turn 270 degrees it only turned 45 degrees. Which is the front face and which is the back? It was planted with it's faces northeast and south west and in five years it turned to either greet the rising sun at the east or to bid it farewell in the west.

Chubby got nothing on R. madagascariensis. Still doing the twist, intradimensional.

What you look for is what is looking
