I pulled Dr. Brown's "The Cordyline" book from my library this morning and after browsing through it I can positively identify this one as a Cordyline terminalis sp.

Wish Dr. Brown was still with us.... :(

HUGE news, everyone!

Big breakthrough today.

I went to my wholesale vender to get some materials today and got everything I needed (and more) except for the Blue Daze. I only needed 6 but theirs were still too small in a 1 gal. pot so I passed and decided to hit up the Lowes, etc. box outlets to see if I could snag 'em.

First I hit Lowes. Well....you know how you ALWAYS have to browse the entire garden department while you are there, just to see if there's anything worth grabbing while you are there. I did get a different (variegated but not Kiwie) Cordyline, 'Colorama' Dracaena, and 'Blaze' Copperleaf - all 3 of which are cool and I will post pics of later.

But the big news and point of my post is.....I kept scanning the UPC labels on the Ti plants to see if they had the variety name on it like the one I got. I ended up getting my Blue Daze at the NSB Walmart, and while there - found the Ti Plant variety name on one of their Costa Farms Ti's like the ones in the pics I posted above.

It's name is...........'MARIA'!!!

How about that?  Very cool name at that. I figured this was a different variety and I was right!

And you can see how durable they area so there's some good intel for you.

Mystery solved....you're welcome! :)

Following up...here are the 3 plants I picked up at Lowes. It turns out it was the "Kiwie" Cordyline, so I got a nice example of one of those (think propagation!), plus a Colorama Dracaena, and a Copperleaf variety I hadn't seen before - 'Blaze'.  I'm a sucker for colorful foliage plants.

Ignore the Cordyline australis in the background - picked those (2) up at the vendor I was at earlier. It's the "Red Sensation" variety. They had a couple big boys so I glommed onto those.

I have grown that Cordyline for years and when I got it back in the day (like 12 years ago) it went by the name Pue Ele Ele.
