Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

And then one of the stars at Dons place... What he is calling "Dypsis Super Curly". I saw these as seedlings at Ron Ls. at LEAST 12 years ago..and I called them "baby big curley" because they had that plumose curley leaf from a very small seedling size and it just got more pronounced as it grew.

As a side note about the above palm I posted at Dons...while it appears similar to Dypsis oropedionis, there are several differences. To me, chief among them is from an extremely early age, this palm has curly leaves. The D. oropedionis has regular plane leaves that slowly change to plumose. Larger keels, smoother leaf bases and petioles are other differences (on this unnamed palm). Whether this is enough to make it a different species rather than a variety.. I have no idea. But I have only seen this one batch of seeds/palms show up once, I'm lucky enough to have one as is Don, Len, Josh, Ron and maybe a few others. VERY COOL PALM and in partial sun these are a Stunning sight!

My little one below that was nearly killed by voles in a pot, it chewed off the last leaf except for a thread or two, and had about a 3" spear. Thanx to Len for greenhouse time to bring it back!
