I also thought it was an Arenga engleri ,  but its leaflets are permanently curled upwards . Yours and the others I know have flat leaflets .Can it be a variation ?

Too dry air, too strong direct sun, too little water?

I also found at the beginning that it could be a lack of water , but to get an idea before taking this photo it rained 100mm this week in Machado-MG, with time covered .
