Will Needle Palm Suckers Flower?

PalmTreeDude

Recommended Posts

This is probably a very basic question, but I have a nice sized Needle palm with a larger center trunk and smaller suckers all around it. Will the suckers ever flower like the center trunk will? And if they do flower, can the suckers polinate the other suckers and trunks flowers and produce viable seed? Thank you for reading.

They should flower when the suckers mature but I doubt they will germinate the main plant since they will all be genetic clones.

Needle palms are dioecious, i.e., each plant is either male or female. Suckers will grow up to be whatever sex the parent palm is.

Thanks for the replies. I posted this thread before with replies but it posted twice. Does anyone know if Sabal minor are dioecious?
