The bad news is it looks like I need to do some weeding in the garden.

The good news is all my weeds are Satakentia liukiuensis.

What are your weeds?

The palm "weeds" that I get are primarily sabal palmetto and roebelenii.  The birds nest in my phoenix roebelenii and carry fruit from the neighbors' sabal palmettos.

Lots of self sown MacArthurii, Elegans, Caryota Mitis, Carpentaria, Queens, Livistonias, Archontophoenix, Dypsis, Foxtails.... Once ( when I was young and keen ) I used to dig 'em up and cultivate in pots. Now I just treat 'em all as weeds, and am forever plucking seedlings out of every nook and cranny in the paving, concrete, roof gutters, lawn etc. When you buy locally produced potting mix, sometimes unidentified ( usually Ptychosperma of some sort ) seedlings come up.

Our extreme Wet-Dry climate helps to mitigate the spread of exotic palms in the bush, but local permanent wetlands and creek systems are susceptible to non native palm colonization. Local bird species and fruit bats feed on a huge variety of native and exotic palm species in the Top End and I do have some unidentified palms in the garden that I'm sure I didn't plant....

I've decided to come here and complain about Florida Betony, Stachys floridana (AKA rattlesnake weed) and Chamberbitter, Phyllanthus urinaria (AKA little mimosa), pictured below. This year's abundant rainfall has made the battle particularly fierce.
