Noticed this on my morning commute. We have lots of these Veitchia in medians in Naples. This one is a bit...different...

I dunno! At first I thought that maybe seedlings were growing from the fruit that didn't drop off the inflorescence (if that could even happen LOL) but a friend suggested that perhaps the apical meristem was damaged. He's going to take a look at it next time he's in the area.

Maybe birds pooped seeds into the spaces between the old fronds and they have sprouted lOL

Had one of these in west palm, same palm, had so many growth points it was crazy. I had noticed it several years ago. Last time I went by there it was gone, going to guess it croaked.

This is where the multi-headed freak used to be in WPB, not the nicest part of town and obviously the palms are not cared for. Not one of the royals but the Veitchia, was hoping it was still on the google map but it's not.   https://www.google.com/maps/@26.7194801,-80.0861724,3a,30y,103.36h,91.32t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1v1jk5R1G5zvqZUBbEY3gA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

That crazy queen palm is right near by house, by a dentist's office.

I have seen some queen palms do this around here. They all have died after a few years. It looks odd but cool the first year or so then they just decline.
