As far as the gfs model runs go, to the end of June, the temperatures are all in the mid to high 20s. With clear skies the temperatures usually end up being a bit higher than most of the gfs runs are showing, for example yesterday and the day before. We will see if the high pressure sticks around.

Looks like a max of 31.7C / 89F for me here today. So slightly cooler than yesterday by about 2C.

 

Some of the hotspots around north London looked to be in the mid-30's C / mid-90's F. Of course there are no Met Stations in that area really. The nearest would be St James Park, which is still about 7 miles away. So not a true representation of the hottest spots around north London.

 

Kew Gardens in southwest London was the warmest official spot at 32C / 90F. Massive thunderstorms brewed up in places though during afternoon and crashed the temperatures by 10C in an hour. I didn't get a single drop of rain here, but parts of west London up through central England got absolutely hammered. First measurable rainfall in 4 weeks for them.

 

Anyway it is staying pretty warm for the foreseeable...

 

Still 19C / 66F here at 1am, however it is 29C / 84F in my bedroom. Parts of central and eastern London are still 22-23C / 73F at 1am.

Min of 67.5f/19.5c max of 91.4f/33c with 30% humidity. The max UV index was an 8. It did rain here today though very lightly for around 10 minutes, nothing like the heavy downspouts that occured around Heathrow. I saw on wundergound some places around Heathrow dropped by 25f in 30mins! The thunderstorms in the distance were very loud, more like the thunderstorms that occur in the tropics rather the the typical ones we usually get. As the thunderstorms were passing by the dewpoint reached 66f. Whilst the humidity was low this morning after the slight amount of rain this evening it has been pretty sticky since, with the dewpoint staying above 60f. Its currently 20.5c at 3.50am with 81% humidity and the dewpoint is 63f.

Min of 69f/20.5c with 71% humidity, the first topical night of the year. Max of 86.5f/30c with 46% humidity. It has been a fairly sticky day, with the dewpoint staying above 60f from 7.30pm on Sunday till 8.30pm Monday. With it peeking at 68f. I had around 15mins of light rain today. As the thunderstorms were passing by there were quite a few funnel clouds forming in the distance.

Absolute max of 30.8C / 87F here yesterday, so slightly cooler than recent days. Although it felt like the hottest day of this current spell given that humidity was through the roof. Really quite unbearable compared to the previous few days, which were more of a dry heat. Still no rainfall here for 5 weeks now, although parts of central England got smashed by thunderstorms and tropical deluges.

It was still 30C / 86F on my drive home from work at 6pm. When I first got in the car, it was reading 33C / 92F.

Scotland recorded its first 30C / 86F of the year on Monday and also the highest June temperature on record for the Threave area. Northern Scotland also saw its wettest June day in 8 years under intense thunderstorms.

 

Northwest England in general looked very warm yesterday with temps up to at least 32C / 90F inland at 55N.

 

Expecting a max of about 31C / 88F here today. Currently 28C / 82F at midday with a decent breeze and much lower humidity. It’s not nearly as oppressive as yesterday. Tomorrow will likely be a shade hotter however. Also signs of a monstrous heatwave developing towards the end of the month.

Everyday the max UV index was an 8.

@UK_PalmsWhilst there's definitely no guarantee, some forecasts are already suggesting high 30s for the end of the month for June! However this will all depend on mainly where the jetstream is positioned. The end of June isn't even the hottest time of the year for us! London is also on track to get well over 250 hours of sunshine hours this month.

Currently 28.1C / 82F at midday today, which now makes it the 8th consecutive day where temperatures have exceeded 28C / 82F. There was also 5 consecutive days that exceeded 30C / 86F here. It has been quite a notable warm spell for first half of June, although temperatures will drop off from tomorrow.

On the drive home on Wednesday evening the car was still showing 31C / 88F at 6:20pm still. It was initially showing 33C / 92F when I first got in the car at 6pm. Anyway, my attention now shifts to the first 38C / 100F day of the year now, which may only be 10 days way.

Some bad wildfires across England, Wales and Northern Ireland over the past 2-3 days. The wildfire threat is extreme across the board. 118 separate wildfires since Saturday I believe, the worst being in the Rhigos mountains and at Fort William.

I am now at day 36 since I last had any rainfall. The grass has been nuked here. I may get a bit of rain on Sunday, we’ll see. The current total is 0.3mm over the past 41 days, so very, very dry.

 

Water restrictions have come into effect for my neighbouring counties today. This could be a very long summer…

The jetstream is very Wriggly and unpredictable at the moment, it's already changed to this. It could be cooler or warmer. It looks like we will be under mainly high pressure with a few brief periods of lower pressure. This week will be a "cooler" period, however the temperatures are still as warm as, probably warmer than Auckland NZ would be right in the middle of summer. The gfs models see have been suggesting high 30s, low 40s in northern France for over a week now.

Day 37 since my last rainfall. A thunderstorm popped up 5-10 miles to my east, but came to nothing and moved out towards Kent. It was also supposed to be a fair bit cooler today, however it has still reached 28C / 82F here this afternoon, although it was much more cloudy today.

 

It is getting so dry now.

 

Significant fires burning away in my area over the past day or two. My county, Surrey, have sent crews to Longmoor, which is about 10 miles away. I could see the smoke from here.

 

Scotland has still been battling the flames as well...

 

@Samuel You better watch what you are saying. You don't have a great track record for making predictions haha. There is already 40C / 104F temps being modelled for London in late June now. While unlikely to verify, we are probably more likely to get a hot/dry blast than a washout/cool one. Brace yourselves for the Iberian plume, that is all I am saying...

I reckon we will go past 200mm this June. So much for the ultra dry prediction from the BOM. No frost in the foreseeable future either. My place is fully water soaked. It’s gum boots only to walk in the garden now.

Today's afternoon has been cloudy and thunderstorms were supposed to come but apprently they stay further West in the UK and France. ⛈️ The air feels more humid though. We had a very wet winter in most of the Northern hemisphere as well.

A modestly toasty Father's Day Sunday shaping up around town atm..  Great morning and evening ahead for a hike, spending the afternoon near water / in the shade..  Some more mid / high level clouds passing through at times through the afternoon as well..

104-107F is the temp range for the day.. We'll see if clouds thicken up enough to temper the high for the day..  Cooler tomorrow / Tuesday ..thru at least Friday ( in the current week long outlook )

While it has been a really nice stretch, for June esp.. As the saying goes, " All things must come to an end ", ..for the time being at least..  so too our hot ..but not typically HOT... mid- June temps..




Even while kicking it further down the road at times, GFS runs have been hinting at it, and, as anyone here knows, our time to " face the heat " will arrive sooner or later.. No avoiding the inevitable in the low desert, this time of year..

How hot it gets past next weekend becomes the next question..  Current, longer- tern outcomes as we head toward the end of the month / and into the start of July are nearly split w/ some model runs keeping things in the 109-114F range, while other runs have been threatening 115-120F heat.. Not pleasant either way, but ..i'll take the lesser of the 100- Teens as we crank up the thermostat...

As far as any vague hints of minor relief as the heat sets in? ..Some hints of passing moisture / maybe a few buildups / quick showers over some of the mountains east and/ or south of town on a day or two as we get closer to the end of the month / start of July, ...but really no solid hints at an early kickoff to more significant Monsoon moisture..

Subtropical high is currently displaced a bit further south than is typical for this point in June ( ....Held up over Central / Southern Mexico ) atm, instead of being closer to the AZ/ N.M. / TX border, where it could direct more moisture our way..

Current 29 step C.O.D. True Color Sat. view over Mexico and the U.S. south.. Can see where the High Pressure area is seated atm..  Time to drag it's stubborn butt back to the northwest..




It will start easing north / northwest over the next couple weeks, but may not get into an optimal position until after the first week in July ( ..Some folks want to delay it " getting there " ( closer / over the 4 corners ) until around/ after the 15th ..of July..  Booo! 👎 ) ..We'll see..

Eastern Pacific may finally start to awaken, ..a little..  over the next couple weeks as well..

A lot of forecasts have forecasted 36c temps now. The Metoffice and BBC long term forecast both suggest the south east will be the driest area in the UK, and will remain above average as far as the forecast goes (mid July). Most long range forecasts also suggest July will be even hotter and August still above average but not as hot as July.

Max of 27.9C / 81F here on Sunday. Wisley, in my county of Surrey was the warmest spot today at 28.3C / 82F. I also received my first measurable rainfall in over 5 weeks (since May 12th) as well this evening, although only 2.6mm / 0.09 inches fell. Completely insufficient given the higher temps and prolonged dry conditions.

 

Now we've got a bit of a cold snap coming up. well I say a 'cold' snap, but it's still going to be 25-26C / 78F in London. A week of cooler temps though before the heat builds again over the weekend. Likely back up to 30C / 85F temps by Sunday. The last week of June will be baking hot. Mid-30's C / 95F.

 

There is a marine heatwave going on currently around the UK. The waters near Ireland and northeast England are more anomalously warm than anywhere else on earth. Some places have warmer water than Malaga on the south coast of Spain, which is just ridiculous for mid-June.

I could be wrong but wasn't the cricket in Birmingham? The rain here in London was pretty light. The thunderstorm and rain forecast showed a lot of rain around Birmingham so it's not surprising they had to stop it.

Birmingham got smashed by thunderstorms over the weekend. It is located in a wetter part of the midlands. That area is on about 50mm of rain now this summer, compared to just 2mm here. So 20 x as much as I have received here. I saw some weather accounts posting on twitter saying they have had nothing still in parts of southern England, or just trace amounts of rainfall since 12th May. That’s the thing with summer thunderstorms, very hit and miss. St James Park in central London is on just 2mm this month, whereas Heathrow is on a hefty 44mm after a deluge on Saturday.

London still looks very warm, despite this week being ‘cooler’. 25-26C maxes during a ‘cool’ period during June in the capital. Quite telling of where we are at these days.

I'm not sure it will be that hot but it does seem to be going that way. It looks like Seville Spain will be 45c next week. When I was in Aswan Egypt it was 50c but with the extremely low humidity it wasn't too bad. However high temperatures and low humidity are a recipe for disaster with plants.

Just a foul foul day down here today. The max of 12.2C was at 3.30am and it just descended from there. We had heavy rain (over 24mm) with hail and icy winds and for the most part it sat around 8 or 9C with a brief excursion up to 11C then back to 8,9C. The place is totally drenched to overflowing and frigid. Thankfully we should have cloud cover tonight, so no extreme cold, but if a high moved in with clear skies now it would be game over.

Had about 4mm of rain so far this June it’s been a real classic and will probably be the hottest June since 1846 for England however increasing signs that we will see a big pattern change into July with low pressure dominating and with such high sea temperatures that could produce a lot of rain

Yes Sevilla is getting these temperatures very frequently nowadays. Sevilla has become Europe's Phoenix (Arizona, USA). They always had dry and very hot weather but now they steadily get hit with those 40+ temperatures for weeks and days. As last year we had a forecast with 46/47°C here I can imagine it won't be long until we will reach such temperatures. For elderly and ill people this will be a nightmare. As you also live in a big city you know how much hotter hot temperatures get and feel in massively urbanised areas. 🥵 This would also kill large amounts of native plant and animal species here. So many native plants got heat damage here in the last couple of years with "only" low 40°C temperatures. 😬

Yes high 40s in parts of Europe seems like it will happen but not the 40c overnight low! 40c temps last year melted a few plants but they recovered.
