Storms starting to fire off just west of.. / east of  Hwy 19 south of Tucson / further east across S. E. AZ.   Not out of the question Tucson may see a light shower or dying storm pass through later ..maybe some dust as well.  Sierra Madre Occidental just south of the border firing up nicely..




If some of these storms develop a little more / hold together long enough as they try to track north, esp. if they manage to get north of Tucson, we might see some dusty breezes later. 

Watching the area of clouds filling in over the desert in a line running roughly S.E to N.W. from Kitt Peak also ..Some storms manage to fire up over that area, would increase the chance of some dust reaching ..at least this side of the valley... later  ...outside chance a brief sprinkle if debris clouds are deep enough while passing overhead later. 18Z GFS is currently painting the chance of spit locally / just to the south sometime overnight as well.   ... It's Something,  which is always better than nothing.




Today's look at the Gulf :  Another step up..  30C starting to appear in / around Puerto Penasco / Mouth of the CO. River Delta. 27C isotherm filling in the offshore waters..

Nuthin' but 29-31C SSTs south of Isla Tiburon. Tropical disturbance passing just south of Cabo should pump more warm water north up the gulf over the next few days..  Now were talkin'



Still, ...not quite there -yet- ...long hot wait may be coming to an end soon though.  🤞 🤞

Steamy?  Searing?    Skosh  ..Dewy?..   How ever one could describe it, that's how it feels outside today around the desert.  while far " cooler" atm than it has been recently, the added, 60-65Deg Dew Point readings around the area are adding that extra gut punch of heat that greets you as you walk out the door..



Stayin' steamy thru the week, though Dew points will be dropping a little, ..as the heat cranks up once again toward and into the weekend.

Before then, ..and while chances are very low, there is an outside chance that storms today may send some dusty outflows into the valley later, ..maybe a light shower passing somewhere over the valley over night  if Sonora and S. AZ see some bigger storms develop later, and remnant moisture from them can generate enough instability in the mid-levels ( of the atmosphere )  as that moisture moves our direction.

Other than that, ..maybe a repeat of today tomorrow across the area.  With the 4c High positioned just a tad too close, placing us under more subsidence than lift, it will be tough to get any storms going in the valley, despite plentiful moisture in the air, and ample surface heating to generate updrafts.. 

As the High tries to drift back over AZ mid/ late week, atmosphere may dry out a bit more, keeping any potential shower / storm activity confined to near the AZ / N.M. border up in the mountains east of town.  ..That is when the heat may crank up again in the valley also..

That said, there are some questions regarding where exactly the high moves over the next few days.. May slowly pass overhead, which would bring about the currently forecasted heat.. Or, it could glide by ..setting up more west north west of AZ by the weekend, thus, allowing some moisture to hang around to keep rain chances around, ..at least in the Mountains.

Regardless ....and cross your fingers... Majority of current forecasts continue to signal that the 4C High will finally set up in a better position next week to start  bringing in better moisture / increasing rain chances into the forecast picture across the state..  Knowing how this has teased us so far this month, we'll see if things actually pan out as suggested..

Borderlands area of the state should stay active through the forecast period, and Sonora ( Mexico ) stays on track also ..Now to get that deeper moisture pooled in Mexico surging north.  Gulf of Ca is pretty much ready to start sending deeper gulf Surges / Eastern Pacific stays active w/ tropical system development ..so,  Just gotta be patient a little longer ..or so it is looking right now..


Looking HOT across many areas of California too the rest of the week / weekend.  If the set up plays out as most are suggesting going into next week, some moisture may sneak into the state later..

Interesting side note: While dry and hot is the rule across 99% of the state, a few spots in the Huachuca Mountains down by Sierra Vista got 1-2.5" of rain last night which was enough to trigger a flood advisory along a wash that passes near Sierra Vista. 

An early sign of ..many more flooded washes ahead in our future,  perhaps??..

Been having many mild nights around 13 and 14C lately and Monday was 20C with today going for the same, then we descend in temps with cold mins on the weekend. They are forecasting 2 or 3C on Saturday morning so if you take off around 4C for my location then it gets a bit of a worry. Will get some fires ready to ignite on Friday night. I hate winter.

It also looks Madrid Spain next week will break their record high. Seville also has 48c/118f forecasted and Cordoba is looking possibly even hotter, 49c/120f. The end of the month forecast has improved for London but we will see. Hopefully the Jetstream pushes some of that extremely hot air from Spain towards us.

The last couple of days not a single one has had a morning minimum below 20°C. I saw some places in Germany having a low of 27°C! this morning. The upcoming forecast shows dry and warm summer weather in the high 20s celsius.  ☀️🌡️

Considering that it's alomst every year now it doesn't look like a normal variation. I also feel like I have a new standard of "normal" summer weather. Hot is now 40°C. Rain considered special and 30°C without rain for weeks "normal". Night temperatures are also very warm all the time now...

Not sure if you saw it but Phoenix dropped " only " to 94F this morning, A record, ..which topped the Record ..from LAST YEAR ( 93F ).  Dad gum is right.. lol..

We're hovering between 115-117 here, depending on hour to hour  W.U. updates for Sat / Sunday..  Will be interesting to see how it actually plays out..



  Most news forecasters are holding at 118F for Phoenix atm.. so.. We'll see.  They stay in the low /mid 90s overnight thru the start of next week as well..

Vegas could definitely set records, and Death Valley will be interesting to eye ball as well.  Flagstaff ..and many other areas up north, where it would usually stay cooler, could smash records too this coming weekend.. .

Needs to start raining,  stat.. We'll see about those " minimal " chances starting to appear in the current, local forecast starting on Mon / Tuesday..

At the moment, most forecasts I see are right around 118, but Accuweather is the one showing the 120, we'll see how it goes

Aside from the rainier / cooler years, that is about the most perfect time of year here  ..Aside from mid/ late Aug- Nov,  ...when it rains,   and March - May.. Summer 2021, every year,  would be perfect..

If winters were in the 9B range, instead of 8B, i'd move somewhere down by Sonoita ...Cooler ..and wetter in summer,  and spectacular..  Aside from foothill areas near and south of Superior, and the entire Tucson area, Borderlands area of S. AZ,  ...between Nogales and Sierra Vista,  are by far the best part of AZ. imo.  

That said, i'll be happy to be 30 min to an hour away from -any-  beach  when the time comes to finally head west, out of the desert.

Got a high clearing the skies tonight and sub zero temps are a certainty. Got plans to setup a number of fires in delicate areas and preparing for the worst. Forecast is for 1-4C but that’s for slightly higher areas outside the cold drainage zone I’m in. Could be 4C colder than forecast. In any case I’m up for some broken sleep tonight as I ward off mr crispy. On a plus side looking at a frosted landscape through a powerful led head lamp is pretty amazing but also worrying at the same time.

It's a cool (but mild) and humid morning here at 15.7ºC/60ºF.  I usually say that of the three main summer months (June, July, August), we usually get one dud each year - so far July is proving to be it.  The first half of the month has been cloudy, cool, very few days reaching 21ºC/70ºF.  No change in the forecast ahead.  At least June was spectacular - warm, dry, and sunny the entire month.

Rolling around Weather Underground checking out the hot times. The usual suspects would be in the western US, so taking a look-see and starting in the Palm Springs area, a weather station at the Four Seasons near Coachella clocks in at 118.2°F with a 61.9% dewpoint and a feel like temperature of 122.5°F. Head up to Needles and areas of that nature and you have 116°F but with a feel like temperature that is 116°F.

Roll into Phoenix and a weather station near McCormick Ranch clocks in at 117° with a dewpoint of 58.1° and a feel like of 117°F. Perhaps Yuma is a little more toasty and it clocks in at 113.4°F with a dewpoint of 69° and a feel like temperature of 125°F.

Roll into some surprising areas such as Abbeville, Louisiana and they record 99.3°F with a dewpoint of 82.1°F and a feel like temperature of 126.3°F. Even a station in Dania, Florida records 97.2°F with a dewpoint of 81.8° and a feel like temperature of 121°F.

The place that takes the cake without question is Rio Grande City, Texas, where 105.6°F temperature combined with a dewpoint of 89.4° yields a feel like temperature of 153.1°F. I am a bit suspicious of this station because I have noted that this area is still humid and only 100 miles to the north, the dewpoint drops dramatically around Laredo. What do you guys think about that?

Min of 16c/60.8f max of 70f/21c yesterday in London. Whilst at night there were crystal clear skies, all day it was lightly raining here. In total I received 6.8mm of rainfall. Whether the weathers switches back to a more typical summer pattern here is going to depend on the jetstream position. At the moment its running very high near Canada then sending down cold artic air masses here. So far though July has been below average temperatures wise and above average for precipitation. Sort of similar to to most of southern Europe and the Mediterranean region in May and June, when it was cooler than here in London and much, much wetter. Madrid Spain seems to have a good chance of breaking their record high next week with 44 and 45c being forecasted and Cordoba has a forecast of 48c!

A balmy 96F in the shade today and 98F-99F on the sensors in full sun.  The NWS has had my location pegged at 60% chance of rain the last two days and we've barely had clouds.
