Well, it made it to 24C today and not just a momentary spike. It’s been sitting within that range for hours. More like October weather or even later. Spring is here.

Ended up getting to 26c here, a fantastic day! Getting cloudy outside now though with rain expected over the next week, can't complain though, rain is always welcome.

Min of 64.4f/18c with a high of 85.1f/29.5c with 50% humidity. The max dewpoint today was 19c/66.2f.  Southern Atlantic France was very hot today with 42c on the coast, that airmass is moving up towards us but is diluted by a colder airmass to the west. Monday is forecasted to be 34c.

29.9C / 85F max here today. Still 20C / 68F here at 2am. Quite a few places are still at 23-24C / 75F at 2am. Portmadog in Wales is 25.1C / 77F at 2am. Quite a few tropical nights incoming tonight it seems. The hot airmass is really spilling into southern England now as we sleep. The 850 hPa temps may be hotter than anticipated.

Some models have 36-37C for tomorrow. Not convinced it will get that warm, but the hPa airmass will probably support it. Still some uncertainty whether temperatures will peak in London area or further north into the notorious Cambridge, Peterborough, Coningsby area, which is where the UK all time records were set in the 2019 event and then again as well in 2022.

GUuk-b6XAAAZG4S.jpg.fc5888de4daaf91873b70c309ace3751.jpg

37C / 99F in east London, although I suspect it will be more like 35C / 95F.

GUuk_iLX0AEbKTu.jpg.9179b55f6c143155768f5b22b9180c79.jpg

The Met Office radiosonde ballon in Camborne, Cornwall has recorded 22.1C / 72F hPa 850 temps at midnight tonight. Expecting the airmass to peak in Sussex or Kent at 23-24C hPa tomorrow afternoon. For context, that is 6-8C warmer than's Hawaii's current 16C / 61F hPa's. It's rare for Hawaii to ever go above 20C hPa.

Wildfires raging in Ireland and London today. I'll post about it in my summer thread tomorrow probably.

Had the highest low of the year so far, 24.2°C! Record this night was 24.7°C nearby. What's remarkable about it is that yesterday it was "only" 36°C and we had clear skies all night and it got to 30°C already at 10 a.m.. Today's still been sunny with the air increasingly humid in the afternoon. The high was 37.0°C. 🌙🌡️

Today was 80.6f/27c with 39% humidity. Low was 64.4f/18c The UV index both days was a 7.

Has the weather become drier over there? When I was there in early August, it was warmish in Cologne however it was very green everywhere. Whilst taking off at Dusseldorf airport it was heavily raining with very green grass, whilst coming into London on the plane you could clearly see from the grass that everything was going brown and looking dry.

Drier? Idk maybe a bit. We had a lot of thunderstorms especially in July. Definitely more precipitation than the last couple of summers. Temps are summerly 25-30°C usually. What's so fascinating about grass? LOL

It got to 21C today and right now at sun down we are waiting for the downpour from the north. Forecast rainfall for the next 10 days is 70mm plus and we need every drop. All outdoor activities have been completed and the next day or so will be spent indoors while the heavens open. A low is sitting just south of Albany now and it feels like the calm before the storm. OK. While I’ve been typing the wind has picked up.

Today has been a lot milder than was predicted, we've had a reasonable amount of rain but nothing like what was expected, at least not here in Jandakot. Happy not to have the gutters overflowing under the eaves, I must get up there with a hole saw and cut a few holes into the gutter so it doesn't happen again. We've had a good amount of rain and it looks like the whole of next week will be wet but I'm happy to avoid any damage due to storms, fingers crossed we'll be OK.

Still dry and somewhat sunny moving into September. Temperatures don't look great, but I can't complain too much. I am in Cornwall in mid-September, so that is when the weather really needs to perform!

As the title says ...The Heat Goes On...    One slim chance at a shower today ..If the Anti Rain shield doesn't keep it away,  then it gets even drier ..For now at least..  We'll see what September has up it's sleeves, ..if anything..

Screenshot2024-09-01at09-36-29ChandlerAZ10-DayWeatherForecastWeatherUnderground.png.2b012bc2b579189a5e0ba929a99f46e3.png

While the official take for this summer may take a day or two to be verified, this will likely go down as the hottest summer in PHX.. Beating out last year by -at least- 2deg. ( I'll update that later )

..That is on top of all the other on-going records we'll be smashing this year..

With 30 days left for Monsoon 2024, a check in on rainfall totals locally, and regionally..

While not quite as bad as last year,  this will likely end up as dry year #2..  IF   September, which is usually a drier ( ...Than Aug. or July month as - is  )  stays as dry as a majority of the current near and longer term forecasts are suggesting.

No doubt, there can some unexpected " September Surprises", so,  ..It ain't over  ..until the 30th.

....We'll see what  -if anything more-  is added to the totals by the start of next month.

From the NWS's " Monsoon Tracker " page:  Only area regionally in a fair position atm is Tucson..

Tucson: About as close to a season average as you can get.

Screenshot2024-09-01at10-04-58Monsoon.png.1c64b41925b8776a6f29af9cfadc78bc.png

PHX ( at Sky Harbour ) Not as bad as last year but   ..still pretty bad.. Might be at / just barely over an inch for the season at the house ..FAR cry from wet.

If another .24- .26 of an inch isn't added before the final bell tolls on the season,  this year could end up being the first time in recorded history with back to back monsoon seasons w/ a seasonal rainfall total  below  1"  Think i'm yankin your leg?   go and look over the records yourself.   Sky Harbour's go back to 1896.

ABQ:  Great start, Not looking like a great finish though atm.   Again though ..It ain't over yet.

Screenshot2024-09-01at10-06-14Monsoon.png.086134a9176e98ac652d4cc78ba30d08.png

Wider - view data:    ..For anyone locally thinking the lack of rain this year is directly tied to some locally - caused issue, while that issue may play some part in this years fizzle- soon,   go ahead and explain the lack of average rainfall in far- from- highly- built up- areas ...like Safford, Yuma, Ajo..    ....I'll wait..

Yuma i can understand. Is rare it actually rains there.   Safford is a big head scratcher.  They're usually near / at average when that part of the state / the Tucson area is doing good.

Rain Log. org  data  ..From 6 / 15 / 2024  to today...  Retrieving data from the Maricopa CO. rainfall data page that includes the same time frame doesn't seem correct to me.. So i did not include it here.

**Appears folks in New Mexico are starting to add their gauges on Rain Log's site as well.  Hopefully many more people out there will join this year so we can start getting better coverage of region- wide rainfall data.

Min of 63f/17.2c with a high of 87f/30.5c. Sticky weather. Not bad for September. Currently 20.6c at 3am.

I can see a wunderground station has finally been set up in the city of London, it  will be interesting to compare the winter between the other ones on weather link (Davis).

Warm night

Some  " reasonable "  heat for the weekend / to start next week..

That said,  could the end of back to back days at/ above 100F finally be in sight?  ...by next weekend??   ... We'll shall see..

Like the suggested rain chances around the same time,  looks nice on da' screen right now but,  as has been the case all season, ..we'll see if either suggestion is still there as we get closer.

Low 70F lows, on the near- horizon,  would be heaven-esque for sure..
