108F here at 4:11Pm MST.. Hot but you know it has been a torch fest when  108 feels noticeably " cooler " than ..the last 53 days... Phoenix is also hovering around 108F as well.. Still an hour to tick up a degree or two but don't think they'll reach the forecast 110F high today. Heavy smoke in the mid/upper levels from the Creek/ other fires in CA. quickly moving in from the N.W. as well.. Can already see the big trough/ low pressure system starting to roll south out of Canada towards Wyoming and Colorado. Several big fires out there as well atm.

Seeing a few records broken around Los Angeles and the Bay Area but nothing even close to yesterday..  Temperatures there should continue to pull back somewhat but look to stay warm region-wide for the week, esp in areas where the Santa Ana's look to ramp up.  Here, the big drop starts tomorrow.. Gets quite windy as well.  Highs should bottom out in the low/mid 90s Wednesday/ Thursday.. May see our first sub-70F low in months tomorrow night, maybe Wednesday night as well.. Warms up by the weekend, but doesn't look to get above 105-106F. Lows stay in the mid/upper 70s.. maybe touching 80F Friday or Sat.

While still " hot ", after this summer, we'll take it.

63F at 2am here. Mild but still on the cool side for September. Highest temperature this month so far is only 72F. Might be looking at 80F by Sunday though, hopefully.

The nights are really starting to draw in now too and I can't really get anything done in the garden after work. A month ago I could work in the garden until gone 9pm. Now it is pitch black before 8pm. I don't like it at all. Reminds me that winter is right around the corner...

So we are 8 days into September and the Darwin Airport is running at 35.3c  ( 95.5f ) average max temp, a full 2.7c ( 4.3f ) above the long term average for the month The record hot Septembers are in the last decade, 34.1c in 2017 and 34.0c in 2010
Sept 2017 had 8 days +35c, and 3 of those were +36c.
Sept 2010 also had 8 days +35c.
The next 7 days still have 34-36 in the forecast so the first half of Sept 2020 is shaping up to be extremely warm at the Airport
And while not record breaking ( yet ), it is unusual to register large anomalies/departures from average in the far north tropics.

Spring is definitely here.

Currently experiencing our version of Santa Ana winds for their third straight day. Not too bad, just constant and irritating. Sustained winds around 50km/h mark with gusts up to 110kmh at times.

My winter-battered Queens are not liking this. On the upside, as a result of the Fohn effect, the temps have been higher. 23C degrees here today.

63F here currently and we may actually touch upper 50s, though I am sure none of the local airports will.  Orlando's average date where the city has its first low temperature in the 50s is October 19th.

86F at 7: 05PM after hitting 104F.. As mentioned below, day 133 of 100F+ days this year.. Possibly 8-10 more 100F days ahead. 30yr Average to start October, is 95F. At least nights are cooling back to the low 70s/ mid 60s.

Hot here, hot closer to the coast.. Some records broken around San Diego today. San Diego itself shattered a record set 114 years ago, in 1906.

Los Angeles area set a few records as well..

What will October have in store...

73F at 11:39PM MST.. You know that anticipated cool down?.. looks short lived, and not near as cool as forecast earlier..  We're at day 142 at/above 100F, Record is 143.. While Phoenix may manage to avoid adding day 143 tomorrow or Sunday, looks like there are 2-4 days next week when they might hit 100-102F So a good chance yet another not so wonderful record falls here.
