Abnormally cold in London tonight already down to 53f at 12.30am. @UK_Palmsdo you have to bring in any of you're more tender plants already for tonight. The temperatures on wunderground are already down to 39f in some places in Guilford. This weather is terrible currently clear nights with northern winds.

The weather was very dry untill the last part of August and September has been exceptionally wet so far lots of low pressure coming off the Atlantic. London Heathrow is already on 73mm of rain so far this month which is more than June July and August combined. It's more sunny this week but with clear skies at night and northern winds the temperatures have significantly dropped very large shift in the weather into September. Hopefully we can get some clear days with southernly winds at the end of the month. Only reached 21.5c here today cloud for most of the day and clear skies at night not ideal. The grass has greened up but some areas the grass hasn't since it's completely dead.

Quite a contrast from the last few months then.

Australia will be interesting this season. The third La Niña in a row has been declared and a negative Indian Ocean Dipole is in full swing. It’s gonna be average in my part of the country, except maybe warmer than average at night, which is fine, because we lack summer evening warmth, but the east is going to be wet, as well as the tropics. Will see what this years monsoon looks like.

After a dry spell in the first 2/3rd of August, the first half of September has been a wet one inside the city limits.  This doesn't count the rain today.  It started at around 6pm and is still going:

The rain finally started catching up with us over here this month as well @kinzyjr. It was crazy on Wednesday, we got 7 inches of rain in 3 hours.

Good news!  That's a lot of rain!  Hope it is translating into rapid growth!

We had standing water on a few of the roads today.  I can understand why they have been issuing river flood warnings for the Peace River in Bartow.

It's currently a Baltic feeling 6.5ºC from an overnight low of 6.0.  This is by some way the coldest September night I've seen here in quite a few years, especially for middle of the month.  We've had a remarkable transformation in one week, it's gone from weather that suits a t-shirt all day and evening, to last night a winter coat would have been needed (I was in a September suitable jacket and so cold).  I've never seen a more sudden, pronounced transition from summer to autumn conditions, with yesterday's high of 14.4ºC being more typical of October.  Looks like things should tick back up to normal in the next few days though.

52f in london with 77% humidity it was clear skies into the first part of the night and it's now now cloudy. Still very cold with the wind coming from the north yesterday only reached 66f/19c still warmer than the 17c forecasted, it's always warmer on sunny clear sky days than the forecast in London.  I think on Saturday morning there were even a few frosts around  high elevation areas of northern england and Scotland. These artic winds will hopefully go away on Tuesday. Definitely has not been a good September below average temperatures and a ridiculous amount of cloud and rain at the start of the month and now artic winds.

84°F at 11:07 AM EST. Believe it or not, for the first time since May, there is a slight moderation in the level of the heat and humidity. Much rain over the past few days but I believe it was attributable to our first quasi-cold front.

The high temperature yesterday was 87°F and the low temperature was 76°F. This compared to standard summer highs of low 90s Fahrenheit with lows in the 80°F. To native Floridians yesterday felt a bit cooler and gives us hope at this time!

It got to 22.7C here today with a 10.1C low. Not bad for September. The weather is on the turn, but being Albany it will like to revert to winter at any time it feels like it should. Next week is low to mid teens and rain.

First "real cold front" arrived in Houston today bringing the first sub-70F/21C readings for much of the metro (except the bayfront and coast) since the end of May. Mid 60s for much of the city (66F at Hobby Airport), with a few upper 50s in the northern and western parts.

This has been one of the coldest September’s in a long time here. At sunrise this morning the temperature was down to a chilly +1.2C under the clear skies here. That makes it my coldest September night since I started my recordings here, 8 years ago.

Yesterday’s max of 14.6C also makes it my 2nd coldest September day since I started recordings too. It is an extra shock to the system given how warm/hot the summer just gone was. Usually September’s are pretty warm and dry here, but this one has been cooler than average and the first week of it was the wettest start to a September on record. Things have really greened up here as a result though, although the past 2 weeks have been generally quite dry. The whole of Europe has suffered a cold September though with the earliest frosts on record in Greece and Italy. Hopefully it isn’t a sign of things to come this winter!

I’m enjoying the sun today at least before the wind and rain arrives tomorrow. It’s currently 16.7C here, which again isn’t great. Expecting temperatures back into the low 20’s C next week possibly.

This is definitely the coldest afternoon I can recall...September in Florida and 64.2F (18C) in the backyard at 3:40pm!  Normally it's around 90F = 32C.  I guess that's what happens when a hurricane goes through!  Tomorrow I am sure it'll be 90 and swampy...

@UK_Palms Yes the weather has been pretty bad for September. Very wet weather from the tail end of fiona at the start of the month and rain off the Atlantic, then we had air coming straight down from the arctic circle causing cooler nights and days. Then we got 2 warmer days then air back from the arctic circle. The coldest I've recorded so far this month is 44f/6.6c. Some wunderground stations in London have only got down to 7.7c. The start to October should be better with hurricane Ian bringing some warmer temperatures with winds coming from the south west. It has been very cloudy this month. We have gone from 230 hours of sunshine in August to 120 in September. I don't think this will have much to do with the winter as we had all the arctic winds (from Greenland and scandaniva) funneling down towards the UK making it abnormally cold.  Hopefully there's only radiational freezes in winter here and no snow of course no freeze would be even better!

It's been pretty wet and a bit windy today here from the tail end of Ian.  Ventnor had winds over 50mph while Lerwick in Scotland had 60mph winds with gusts over 75mph.  As it's stopped raining and the wind has died down the warmer winds from Florida have actually caused the temperature to rise even though it's night. Currently 60f with 93% humidity.

Compared to yesterday's dust and 60-70mph wind fest, much calmer today. 86F atm, headed for the lower 70s overnight.

Rest of the week looking pretty good w/ temps. steadily headed lower by next week.  If Wx Underground's forecast verifies, perhaps some mid- 60 deg lows as we head toward next weekend here and around the East Valley.  While not on their 10 day, shower chances hang around through - at least- the start of next week-  across the state.  Best chances hang over the mountains / down south, and in New Mexico, but 20-30% rain chances for the valley ..or at least parts of the valley,  Friday through Monday.

Real nice weekend ahead in Tucson also..

Change of seasons in full effect up north with the tops of the San Francisco Peaks seeing their first snow of the season yesterday. Been seeing pictures of the Aspen starting to change color on the mountains up there this week also.  Lows may be in the mid/ upper 30s around Flagstaff itself by the start of next week.

Some refreshing, morning chill in the air across the borderlands as upper 40 / low 50 deg morning lows make their first appearance of the Autumn down there over the next 10 days.  Highs look to stay in the 70s / lowest 80s.

Perfect..

87-89F in the 'Hood  atm.. Headed for the lower 90s again..

Rest of the week looks warm, ...bordering on hot Thursday and Friday, but relief may finally be on the way over and after the weekend ahead. Saving grace on the warmer days is mornings are now back in the 60s/ low 70s..  Looking like lower 60s as temps. decline after the weekend.  We'll see about any suggested rain chances.  They have a way of fizzling out at the last moment, lol.

Looking further out, some hints in some GFS runs of a pretty chilly storm rolling through the western U.S. sometime between the 20th- 26th. Could bring us some mornings in the 50s / maybe a good dusting of snow for the interior west, parts of the Sierras, Rockies, parts of Northern /  eastern AZ / New Mexico as we approach Halloween.

... Gonna feel real nice, if it pans out.

Max of 17.9C / 64F here today. Not particularly warm, but clear sunny skies all day. Down to 7.2C / 45F at midnight here now though.

Despite the transition into autumn and some much needed rainfall during September, we still have massive drought concerns in southern England with many reservoirs at 15-20% capacity and some rivers almost empty. The grass has greened up, but water levels really shouldn't be looking this bad still in mid-October. Perhaps a sign of a longer-term issue becoming more entrenched now maybe? This really needs to be replenished before the dry spring-summer period arrives again. It's looking bleak.

There is a risk some of these rivers may not come back now, which is worrying given the population density in the UK. You shouldn't be able to walk along English river beds like this in mid-October. Clearly they are struggling to recover from our increasingly dry springs and the Mediterranean summer we had.

This map from last week perfectly illustrates the contrast in rainfall for northern and western areas, compared to southern England, which is developing a reputation now as one of the drier parts of Europe. Very hard to get any meaningful rainfall in places for large swathes of the year now, especially from April - September. But rainfall can be erratic and unreliable year-round down here. Last November saw 0.1 inches of rainfall here, which is a very bad omen moving forward. I'm still on 9 inches for the whole of 2022.

80F and sunny.  Still no rain, I think we've logged a third of an inch since the 2nd week of June - so really nothing in 4 months.  Wildfire season has been shockingly absent but in the past week  a few have kicked off in the nearby areas.

Right now forecasts have us "flipping the switch" and entering our cool wet season on the 21st.

Huge contrast between north and south this morning, with ground frosts up in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Whereas the south coast of England had lows of 13C. A bit of welcome rain too as you say, but it will do very little to offset the longer-term drought issue.

Currently 18C / 64F here at the moment. GFS says 22-23C for London on Monday. Not bad for mid-October at 51N.

@UK_PalmsHopefully the gfs model is correct, it would be nice to get another day above 20c before winter here. The main thing is the lows for central London are looking pretty good for the rest of the month, especially when you consider it's always higher than the forecast says it is. There was a decent amount of rain in the forecast but that seems to have been reduced a lot. Definitely drier than September and not too bad for the wettest month of the year.
