I have had clear skies here all night so far but the temperature is still holding up at 10.6C / 51F at midnight here. The convective airmass is just too warm to allow for any serious radiational cooling, as opposed to what we had a week or so ago. +15C isotherms are currently overhead, compared to -5C isotherms over say Houston, Texas right now for instance.

1239375772_thumbnail_image0-2022-12-24T003433_533.thumb.jpg.1f7fc7e41728f5035bb1383022c96695.jpg

I legit have my bedside fan running right now as I am roasting in my bedroom. All windows open as well. I cannot get my bedroom below 23C / 74F. My max today spiked at 16.4C / 61F due to the clear sunny skies. Even I am surprised that I am not getting hit harder from radiational cooling tonight. At least we don't have to worry about any frosts moving forward...

12°C at 1:35 a.m. today's high was 14°C. The air is very balmy and nice. Mixed periods between clear and sunny skies with no wind at all and rainy episodes with good gusts of wind.

Too cold for monsteras and wandering dudes and whatever kind of succulent this is. These were terrible choices to put in planters in front of a hotel anyway. I'll replace them with something cooler and hopefully palmier.

Currently -7F at my house in Western North Carolina, with a feel-like temperature of -28F when wind is factored in. I cannot wait for the warmer weather coming late next week. This is definitely the coldest I’ve lived through here. One to remember for sure.

43.3F at 10:15 a.m. Low was 41.1 at 7 a.m. Predicted low was 38F. If I get the same overnight I won't get upset. Just the barest hint of sun so I may be lucky if we get to 50F. About 30 degrees below normal. If this front happened 2 weeks from now it might have been a disaster. Here in Cape Coral the 2nd week of Jan. is most prone to catastrophic winter weather, Jan. 10 being the lowlight. The record freeze of 2010 occurred the weekend of Jan. 9-11. We hit a record low of 28.5F the night of Jan. 10/11. Almost eerie.

45F at 4:15. Was supposed to hit 50F - never happened. Predicted low tonight: 39F. Predicted high Sun: 50F. Cloudy sky scuppered daytime warmup; maybe it will scupper overnight low. Fortunately, we have turned off the sprinklers.  My coconuts will show their displeasure over this run of cold weather. No heat, no sun, no photosynthesis.

Currently 18c at 5.30am heading for a pleasant top of 30c on this Christmas Day in Perth. Much milder than the 43c we had on Christmas Day last year, a pleasantly mild summer so far here. Merry Christmas to you all, I hope Father Christmas has put something nice under everyone's tree.

Nice Xmas eve / day ...followed by   7  days of rain, showers, whatever wett-age / moist-ness?? 🤔

Too much season's "cheerfulness" by the 18z run today??🤔  ..Might i suggest saving such " Cheerfulness"  for July  ...and August, September / early October??  ( ...These totals, < or more > each month, thru October ) 😁

4-5-ish inches, in my backyard?  Not impossible i suppose, but likely a tad' too optimistic this happens, here at least..

Haven't irrigated all month. The ground is still saturated from the storm at the start of the month and now it looks like it could be well into January before I think about turning it back on.

Yep, haven't run the sprinklers / drip in sometime either.. Lots of areas of both yards where the soil is still moist, even if dry right at the surface..

Wow such brrr but still not as cold as the other night. We did briefly get above freezing today. Still, 25 is better than 10. And this is way better than the garbage we dealt with in Feb 2021 here in SE TX.

Who would have thought that London would be warmer than Miami on Christmas Day!? Both by day and night too. It's not uncommon for us to be hotter than Miami in July during heatwaves, but never in winter given that they are down at 25N and we are way up high at 51N. I mean Miami is 1,800 miles closer to the equator!

Currently 9C / 48F here at 2pm as a cold front has hit. There is the possibility of a touch of frost for me tonight under clear skies out here in the country, as I have no UHI. This will be the coldest day/night over the next 10-14 days though. London is looking pretty darn mild as we enter the New Year. My Washingtonia's are on the move again now.

52.7F at 12:30 p.m.! Hadn't touched 50 for 3 days. And that's with horizon to horizon cloud cover. Low was 44.1F (predicted: 39F - thank you, clouds). Predicted high today: 58F. Predicted low tonight: 47F. Tues. high may soar into the 60s. A little more sun would be nice. I feel blessed, hope my palms will soon.

One last day soaking up some winter 70s before some rain and cool-ish days return..  We'll see how soon the 70s return..

Temps around town / down in Tucson around 2:45PM.. Less high cloudiness over S. AZ through the day allowed for more insolation / reaching into the 80s down there.

As you can see in the 10 day, anticipated rainfall totals have come down quite a bit compared to earlier, more "enthusiastic" thoughts.. Still should be a nice period of soaking rains area wide.. ( perfect for providing spring color to come a boost )  Temps pull back a bit, but nothing unusual.. Nights actually stay a touch "warm" under the pattern setting up.

We'll see how long things stay unsettled.. E.Pac. Jet Energy driving storms across the pacific and into the west coast / S.W. could keep at it for the next week or so, or dump and retreat..  ( IE: Jet stream starts to retreat north, while low pressure bias retrogrades west, back out over the pacific closer to Japan, shutting off the hose on this side of the basin. )

On a side note, Sunsets are getting a little longer ( by a few seconds/ day, for the next few days anyway.. lol )  About 24 days out from the sun starting to rise earlier each day as well.. Already counting..
