Saw these available last Summer from Jeff.

I bought a 1 gallon and planted it straight away from the mail into the ground.  Loved FULL Vista sun and not so much the cold last Winter.

I'm not sure what it will actually look like mature. Pictures I found on Internet are not very good.

Others growing this please post info and pictures so I can see one grown up. Here is mine 1 Winter down going into a second.

Give it lots of water and warmth!

Another thing, the plant doesn't look all that much like sudanica, which is basically trunkless with longer petioles.

I can guarantee water but warmth might be tough next few months.

Bought as Sudanica from FB.  Only thing I know for sure is that it is different to my Farinifera.

If you're growing one I'd love to see what it is supposed to look like

Fairchild, as far as I know, still has some growing. You can see what sudanica looks like on Palmpedia.

I've seen a tiny one at Leu Botanical Gardens in Orlando, FL years ago. I wonder if it's still there! Yours is beautiful!

I'm always up for learning new things!

It now has four distinct trunks.

It's not putting on much size and is slowww.

Winter always seems to set it back.

Could you let me know how low the temp was it and how long did it take that made your nice sudanica minor burn like this?

Subtropical monsoon climate; Cfa; Zone 9b/10a

2002-2021:

Annual average extreme low temperature 0.2℃/32.36℉

Extreme low temperature -1.8℃/28.76℉ (2003)

Average temperature in January 8.6℃/47.48℉

Lows in the upper 30's to triple digits as highs.

Generally low humidity.

The weather station in my yard is new so not a lot of historical data.

You could check it in January and February.
