All the alfredii talk on here, seems the madagascariensis is rarely talked about. I love them all but this one is truly a stunning palm to me. Always super green, super duper slow so it can hold a spot in the garden for line of sight pleasure. I have 4,  these are my best 3. The first one is about 10 years from a 3 gal pot.

It’s such a great, trouble free palm around here. The super upright look is way cool. Full sun in our area seems best, & they really speed up as they get about head high. Yours look great!

wow wow wow! simply breathtaking. I have a mystery youngling that some have ID'd as madagascariensis but I still am a bit doubtful.

I have one Beccariophoenix madagascariensis. I think I got bought it about 9 years ago as a 3 gallon size. It's a slow grower (definitely slower than my two B. alfredi), but other than that, it's a great palm. No mineral deficiencies, diseases at all. Due to my 9b climate I have mine planted beneath a carrot wood tree. That basically keeps frost off of the palm.

Here's one at Kopsick in St. Pete. I believe this is around 18-20 years old.

Yes, I know in 2010 (both January and December) I protected it. It was much smaller then, of course (not that it's that big today, about 9 feet to the top of the highest vertical frond). I bundled the fronds and used either string lights or heating cable. But no protection since 2010. The palm is near perfect. I guess because it get's fertilized with 8-2-12 four times a year and is sheltered. I guess this palm has good genes. I think I bought my current palm from D'Asign Source.
