Corpha utan in trouble?

I just received a sprouted Corpha utan seed yesterday.  At first glance it looks like a goner - nearly all leaves brown and dark roots.  The roots were wrapped up pretty wet so it looks like rot.  But this species likes water and the spear and growing point still look healthy so there is still hope?  I emailed the seller these photos.  I potted it up in a well-designed mix anyway.  What do y'all think?

Ouch, not too many roots left to support the leaf transpiration.  Better cut most of the leaves off.  Looks like it was ripped out of the ground.  The Corpha's I had did not like their roots disturbed.  Good luck on this one.

Ouch.   PICU (Plant Intensive Care Unit).  It needs some definite fine TLC, crossed fingers, and Prayers. The spear and new growth still look good though.   Did it sit in the mail too long?  I would say there is still hope?  Good luck!

Thanks Mike.  I did cut off all the leaves except for the one with still a bit of green which I cut in half.  I watered it with some roots stimulater as well.  It's in a well-draining (not well-designed - thanks autocorrect!) mix so I'll water often.

Update - the Corypha appears to be a survivor!  The one half-green leaf is still intact and the spear finally opened after almost 6 months!

Indeed!  Now it can be safely moved to a regular palm hospital room with a nicer container!    These palms must be pretty tough - it's the only one of three that survived the shipment from Thailand!
