Encouraging vertical growth in butterfly palms

Harmless Games

Does removing all the off shoots from my butterfly palms encourage them to grow taller instead of wider? It’s a never ending battle chopping these guys off! Am I just wasting my time?

Doesn't seem to make a difference on rate of trunk growth on one's I've kept after vs ones I just let grow. Here's one I've had a long time I let go for years then went in for selective cutting to remove all the trunks I didn't want. After that just remove new suckers every couple months and cut seeds off before they mature & drop if you don't want seedlings sprouting.
