First new palm from a new local nursery

Hey everyone found about this new local nursery. Massive commercial greenhouse /nursery. Like everyone up here they get tractor trailer shipments of pre ordered palms and extras and keep them until it warms up enough. Anyway these guys care deeply and I should have taken a photo of the palm section. Just awesome. 14 foot coconuts to 3 gallon anything. Same place I posted the flowering roebellini.

So my first palm for the pool this year is this nice 7 gallon with 3 adonidias. I’m hoping I don’t over water this one and keep it for a few years !

It’s a dark gloomy rainy day here otherwise the sun would light and heat up my palm room like a greenhouse

here Is a pic of the palm section of my local nursery. I guess a truck from Florida came yesterday and a ton got sold right away so I was lucky today to get a 7g bottle and a young coconut

That's a heck of a good palm tree selection to choose from for Ontario I would imagine.

Most of these guys do a preorder with a deposit and always order extra. This year I decided to wing it and it worked out ok

Rickybobby, That makes sense. I'm assuming the natural palm growing season has to be fairly short up there. It would be quite a large expense for the nursery to hold unsold palms over the winter, especially after the expenses of purchase and transport from Florida.

I was up in Ontario quite a bit for work last summer. Mostly in Ottawa and Kingston. I even went to a Red Blacks game! I remember a small store in downtown Kingston that sold palm trees. I believe it was called "The Jungle".

I have not had the best of luck with Adonidias, but have managed to keep one alive now into its second growing season.  Don't let it dry out too much, they seem to really resent droughty conditions.  I also use an extra porous mix for it as they seem to like regular watering.  Also all my palms season outside but this one and the coconut are still in the basement.

The same thing happens where I live. A nursery that's about an hour away from where I live every imports 10-15 foot queen palms every year and last year, they received the palms on May 16. I went by that nursery on Memorial Day just to see them and there were only 2 still there and were both marked "sold". It's crazy how fast palms can go in cold areas...
