Is it a Colombian native?

A short and early maturing Euterpe oleracea maybe.

Or a different Euterpe or Prestoea...

I do not know if it is native.  Euterpe oleracea normally grows at low elevations.

Aren't those uber tropical? More cold sensitive than C. nucifera?

If 8k ft in the tropics = 400ft. In a Mediterranean climate, I would gladly plant it in my only available open plot (Fenestralis R.I.P) in my narrow garden sliver.

But this seems too good to be true.

Someone ID this please.

Prestoea acuminata

Etymology: The specific epithet montana, from the Latin, meaning literally; "from the mountain"

So. Thrives at 8k altitude? Or at least 400ft in 33 latitude?

Where can I procure one of these?

I can't believe this stuff will grow at 8000ft in the tropics. I thought that even 8000ft would be cool in the tropics. https://www.google.com/maps/@4.6675274,-74.0989662,3a,75y,236.84h,85.01t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1scYVwjV1WbYzW6YFQCf7RZw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DcYVwjV1WbYzW6YFQCf7RZw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D15.608643%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656 This looks like an Archontophoenix purpurea at 2553m (8,375ft). If this was anywhere in California it would be a good place for a ski resort! Also see Teddys and other non cold hardy stuff.

What's the highest a coconut will grow?

Don't get me started.

Depends where.

In the tropics, quite a high altitude. In 33+ latitude, not so much...

Lights/lamps are for effect only. (We're at 20c st the moment.)

One would not be able to see the palms without the lights.

Btw, the first, closest palm in the picture is the store bought dehusked coco. Turned out to be a golden coconut. As you can see, no husk.

The "chiquita banana" style label said " product of Jal, Mexico."  I think it's a tall. It's almost the same size as the cocos which are one year its senior.
