Sabal Minor "Louisiana" in Zone 7

For sure.  There are a lot of windmills and minors around here, and even some palmettos.

I was looking for some 'Louisiana' seeds and saw the RPS site entry. They are stating slow growth & "This dwarf palm is the smallest of the Sabal, and an important and popular species because of its legendary cold hardiness." That contradicts much of what I've seen and read here. Cold hardy, yes. Slow, dwarf (smallest of the Sabal), not so much. What say you?

S. minor is commonly called dwarf palmetto and is in fact the smallest of the Sabal species.  But there is a whole bunch of varieties of Sabal minor of which "Louisiana" is one of the larger varieties.  There are also dwarf dwarf palmetto ie. dwarf Sabal minor.

Sounds like the Palm version of a jumbo shrimp! 🤨

Also, it is fast for a Sabal but still slow compared to a Washy. So the description is correct, just lacking context.

I would love a Louisiana I just don’t have the space. They get huge. I know there are sabal minor varieties that stay somewhat small
