Jeez, popular item. When I get home tonight I need to go through all the PMs and see if I have enough seed for everyone. The first order in was for 200. So for now I need to say it’s all sold. Sorry.

Hello,

I live in South West France, and I am passionnate about palm trees. I have a large collection, and I am interested in dypsis decipiens, which is hard to find in France, and in the rare cases, they are of poor quality.

When your dypsis produces new seeds in September, would it be possible to reserve 20 seeds?

Please let me know how much it will cost?

Kind regards

Josh told me a few days ago he got 2. I got 1 to germinate. I put down like 100! Seed came off 3 different flowers too.

Has this "dippy" flowered this year yet!?

Sadly, it's dead. The dangers of flowers on palms. The first flower was loaded with seed and I didn't tie it up like I did the next 3 flowers. If was so heavy it ripped off the tree tearing the trunk. Pink rot set in and no amount of fungicide could save it.

So sorry to hear about the demise.  I had heard that DD can be tricky to germinate while others find it to be easy.  I guess I fall in with you and Josh...

Most mine still sink, so holding out hope. I know when Gary Levine's set seed, the return was WAY better.  I believe Josh did say his 2 just germinated. Either that, or he just noticed them.

Same here.  I had a few rot but the majority still seemed good when I checked them the last time a few weeks ago.  It's been so long I quit checking my baggie but maybe I will take another look...I'll be thrilled if I get one!

I am so sorry about your palm, but, I am so glad you posted, because it never occurred to me that I would need to tie up a flower stalk, that it could potentially kill a palm.   Thank you.  Cecile

Okay, to be clear, the tree died?

Hope not . . .

Damaged trunks here in SoCal can be hit by pink rot pretty easily. I have had hundreds of flowers on palms and only lost two palms this way. So nothing to stress over, only to watch for. Here is the stump (so busy I haven’t got around to removing) and you can see where the crown fell off right where the flowers were.
