I have been doing garden maintenance at a property on Shark Key for many years now, and have noticed that individual clumps of Serenoa repens have different shaped seed. There are no other obvious characteristics of these palms at this location that would seem to separate one clump from another. Most are round, but one clump in particular has ovoid shaped seed. Anyone else ever notice this happening with this species?

The silver Serenoa is fairly popular here in San Antonio.  I have noticed the ovoid shaped fruit, but I've not noticed that orange color before.

 Serenoa seeds I've seen around here are ovoid, look somewhat like olives.

Natural variation. Chamaerops humilis can also have seeds that are all sorts of shapes and sizes.
