King Palm Seed - ID?

Recommended Posts

Hey, would anyone have any idea on what type of King Palm seed this would be? I noticed it was different with the holes in the bottom, sorta like a coconut. I have a bunch of other seeds I picked up trying to get different varieties of King's on a stay at Paradise Point in San Diego earlier this year.

Let me know!

That's interesting... I didn't see a queen near by where I picked this up, but you never know... maybe a leaf blower or something moved it to the location where I found it.

Animals like rats will eat the fruit and move them around too. King seeds are round.

Ok, Great call, I think this is what I was gathering from. I thought it was a King Palm.

I don’t think we have many fruiting clinostigma in here in San Diego except for a few on private gardens. I’m not even sure if that seed is from a clinostigma being that I have never seen one. The palm looks like clinostigma though. The seed you posted is definitely a queen seed. I’ve cleaned and slipped on a million of those little mini football coconuts before.
