My mom sent me a photo of this succulent from a place near Big Bend National Park.  She thought it was an agave, but it doesn't look like one to me.  The name "Latenburgia" doesn't exist, the closest I could come up with was Euphorbia Lydenbergensis.  Any ideas?

The name on the sign is close to the Latin name for this plant.. Leuchtenbergia (  Full name = L. principis )  They're sometimes called False Agave, since they kinda look like one, but are more closely related to Cacti..

I did a google search for "latenburgia" and got nothing, zero response.  Is my guess correct?  The only "False Agave" I know of are some Furcraea and the "Texas False Agave" which looks like a Dyckia.

Go to Aridlands Greenhouse, and look up Leuchtenbergia in the "L" part of the Cactus section of the online plant list..

Here's an especially old specimen on display at a local CACASS Show and Sale a couple years back. Not sure on how old, but overheard it may have been collected sometime in the early 80s.
