I have been watching this Sabal grow, after it fell over,  the last few decades along the Silver River in FL (Silver Springs).  It has finally made a complete Knot.  That is our local FL Cormorant sitting on the trunk waiting for some fish.  Just some Covid house arrest humor.

Wow this is absolutely amazing determination by the palm. Can anyone make an educated guess on how old this bad boy is ?

Been there many times admiring the same Sabal, I think they finally had to put that fence up to stop people sitting on it to take pictures, its really awesome, its soo much more impressive in person. Thanks for sharing.

Sabals in the wild grow much slower than an irrigated, fertilized landscape.  I would estimate the length from the cormorant and the crown to be about 50 years.  Or more.  The palm might be over 200 years old.
