Don't know about the price, but it is a Kentia.

Yes, multi planted Kentia. Go to Home Depot and order one for $100.00 and it will be triple the size of the one you have pictured. I have done that a number of times and the Kentia palms came in big, lush, and healthy.

They actually sell Kentia palms at Home Depot in California?  That would be incredibly unusual at any Home Depot in the southeastern USA.  On the flip side, I bet it would be strange in California to see Thrinax palms for sale at Home Depot like you do in South Florida.

As far as I know, Home Depot sells Kentia palms in their indoor plant area in most of their stores or will special order them. Lowe’s is the only store that I know of that sells sun grown Kentia palms in their outdoor nurseries here in Northern CA. I bought two 15 gallon triples for a client’s front yard that were over ten feet tall at $99.00 each last year and they have done extremely well in their mostly sunny positions.

I can attest to that.  Yes, in San Diego, they have Kentia's for $149 USD, however, much larger than your specimen.

In Tijuana, (just crossing the border from San Diego) they double in price.

As Jim stated, maybe try and order one?

$100 for 3 Kentias is worth it here. Very rarely do BB stores offer them here but I have seen them. If I lived there and had the discretionary funds I'd go for it. They are still outdoor no-grows outdoors in FL no matter what anyone says. Our harsh summers stifle them to death. My belmoreana and forsteriana are exceptions I've never been able to duplicate and they survive from summer to summer on the knife edge of a microclimate I managed to create for them.

They sell them here but they used to be $200-$250 for a 15 gal. Right now there is a 3 gallon triple indoor palm for $225. Wtf.

I believe Jungle Music carries these all the time , triple 5gs for 85$. I still have mine in a pot relegated to the garage, getting about 3hrs of aftenoon thru a window. Unfortunately its a single tho now. Pic is my indoor container ranch area =)

Kentia palms will grow outside in Florida if given enough shade. This is my H. forsteriana  planted over 10 years ago as a 3 gallon. Heathcote Botanical garden also has a nice one growing in partial shade

This is what you can get at Lowe’s in Northern California for $199.00 in 20 gallon containers sun grown and ready for the garden. They range up to 12 feet tall, sometimes more. :)

I'm pulling the volunteers out all year and composting them. So as pointed out already value depends on where you are.

That seems like a great value regardless of the type of palm or location. Instant gratification for $200.

Lowe’s has access to some great palms. I got three 15 gallon Livistona chinensis for this project a year ago for $29.00 each. I bought a big Kentia and two huge Raphis excelsa for the same project.

You must have a pretty cool manager at your Lowes , we haven't been able to talk ours into much special orders yet. They definitely have had a better selection then HD ever has.

So you spoke with the Lowe’s nursery manager and he/she wasn’t helpful?

This is very dependent on the actual person in charge. I had good luck with a Depot garden center manager with special orders. Then she left and the new guy couldn’t care less.

May also vary by region, and state AG restrictions as well. Tried to special order a few things offered on Lowes main site but, since those plants would come from FL. they weren't allowed to ship here to AZ.. or so i was told by the managers of two different locations here.. Citrus/ Fruit trees in general is a no brainer, but kind of scratched my head in regards to Sea Grape ..and a couple other things i'd asked about.

She said she thought she could order a royal for me and told me to check back with her in a week. A week later she said the supplier hadn’t responded to her email and she’d try again. A week after that I checked back and again she said the supplier hadn’t responded to her email. About a week after that I found one somewhere else.

Kentia palms never come from Florida. They’re usually from a big grower in Hawaii or California. You can always tell the Hawaiian sourced palms because there’s lots of lava in the potting soil.

I'm surprised that you got that far with someone!  I've tried several times to special order at big box stores with no luck.  When I lived in Lukin the local HD had a couple of Brahea armata and Chamaerops humilis 'argentea' one year.  Two perfectly appropriate palms for most of Texas but never saw either for sale at big boxes before or since!  When I tried to special order Brahea armata at a local HD they told me couldn't order it and the shipment to Lufkin was probably a mistake!  This is what we have to deal with here.

It just really depends on the actual person in charge. Since it’s all about sales volume, they order in bulk the items they know will sell but the growers typically give the store a list of all available plants. When I had good luck, it was because the girl in charge was a palm enthusiast. She was happy to special order and tack it on to their regular order for no extra charge. After she left, the guy who took over basically told me there was no way to do any of the things that I had already done. He just didn’t want to do a little bit of extra work to sell me 1 or 2 plants.

Perhaps there are zero palm enthusiasts working big boxes here in Texas!  I agree that some employees aren't willing to give extra effort but I tried 4 different stores before giving up.  They were not even able to find Brahea armata in their computer.  It's not as if I was trying to order a rare palm (although it might be rare to grow them in humid Florida).  Even in zone 10a Brownsville and Harlingen, Texas the number of available palm species at big box stores is minimal and isn't much more than what they sell in zone 8a Dallas.  This is why it was so shocking to see mule palms for sale at Lowe's this season!  It's incredibly different in California and Florida.
