I bought some seeds online, but I think I received the wrong kind. What do you think these are from? I won't prime your brain.

What did you buy them as? It would help because that could be a number of different palms

Oh right.

The largest is 18mm x 13.5mm and the smallest 14.5mm x 12mm. They are a bit squished on one side.

I bought these from eBay, where I get most of my seeds when I'm desperate :)

The seeds shipped from UK, but they may have been harvested elsewhere.

Brahea edulis

@dalmatiansoapThose are not edulis.  They look kinda like trithrinax acanthacoma.

@dalmatiansoap I also thought they might be Brahea edulis, but the problem is I've never handled edulis before. They are different, but somewhat resembling other Brahea seeds I have seen.

@TexasColdHardyPalms and @aztropic, these seeds are squished. I've never handled trithrinax acanthacoma, but they seem round in the pictures.

What palm species did you buy?  I think John was asking what species you were expecting.  They do look like Trithrinax acanthacoma and it looks like some of the ones you got are not fresh.

I bought Beccariophoenix alfredii

They might be Beccariophoenix alfredii although your seeds look pretty small in comparison to other B. alfredii seeds I've seen.  Your seeds look a lot like seeds shown in this thread also purchased on Ebay from the UK by a member in Quebec but I don't know if his were actually B. alfredii.

@Dimovi t. Acanthacoma are round so they're not acanthacoma. I've never germinated alfredii so I cant identify that species. I can only tell you they're not common or cold hardy based on that last pic.

I guess those do look like mine. I was expecting three eyes, something more like Butia and Syagrus seeds since it is related to the genus Cocos.

Let us know if you get adjacent germination in the next 6 weeks which seems to be common timeframe for germinating B. alfredii.  Good luck with them!

You will have to let us all know what happens.  I work around palms and have seen lots of seed and sometimes it is hard to identify if you dont collect it your self.

I started soaking them in water. Hopefully I will have something germinating in a few weeks and I'll update.
