Potted Sabal Palmetto

This was sold to me as a s. palmetto. It is in a 2 gallon pot. No roots are coming through the drain holes yet but I can see some roots at the bottom when I peer through the holes. Should I go ahead and pot it up to a 5 gallon? Also just to be clear s. palmettos like a lot of water right? With proper drainage you can't water it too much, right?

Anybody with potted sabal palmettos post some pics.

Also I seem to be having a hard time finding sabal birmingham seedlings or seeds. If anyone have either please let me know.20200709_163132.thumb.jpg.93079654a5d53356f4eef5ec9d05d32d.jpg

I never had much luck with this species of Sabal in a container, maybe I just got a bad one.  It just never grew for me and I lost interest in this species of Sabal.  I personally have had much better success with Sabal bermudana (Bermuda Sabal), Sabal Louisiana, and Sabal mexicana/texana), those all actually grew for me in a pot. My impression is that Sabals, unlike most palms, like a little extra space in their containers, so maybe that was my mistake with the S. palmetto.  Regarding watering, mine are all outside in the East and it is HOT and HUMID, and pretty WET.  I never worry about them being overwatered outside. Yes, a well-draining soil is good,  but most palms also appreciate a soil a fairly rich soil (assume this is the same with Sabals).
