Trachycarpus fortunei yellowing?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi! I gave my plant some slow release fertilizer( 6 months) a couple of days ago and I see some yellowing on the leaves. Are these normal? There is some minimal yellowing on the top leaves aswell.

I think the yellowing cause is that the plant is in a black container and gets full sun all day. Maybe the roots get heated up too much? I moved it to a more shady area.

Thanks for the answers!

These palms can do that easy.  It's not usually a big concern.   I have them in pots in full sun and it's not an issue if they are used to the full sun (ie sun acclimated).  If it's in a well draining soil mix you can water often.

Maybe too much water the leaves are folded in as well which is a sign

If you got leaf tip damage just a few days after applying fertilizer it could be from salt burn.  It is likely that only a part of the fertilizer is slow release, the soil is too dry, or both.
