A Sabal palmetto that is just starting to trunk sustained some damage in the most recent hurricane, when a substantial tree limb fell on it.  I think it missed being a direct hit to the spear and newest growth but did damage many of the newer leaves.  The petioles are kind of split and frayed both near where they emerge and mid length on various fronds.

Should I wait for the palm to decide if the leaves are dead, or prune to clean cuts to maybe reduce area for pathogens?  Either way it will be a bit homely for a while.20200804_173452.thumb.jpg.14fcd5867d2e4211feb0e78933397ef9.jpg20200804_173502.thumb.jpg.6da74b6e71e93113e2ca6ed3e3316d1d.jpg

I reccomend not trimming anything. Let it stay ugly as it will still be able to pull nutrients from those damaged fronds.
