Royal Palm question

My 3ish year old royal Palm crownshaft is spotted brown. What is going on? They are usually bright green in color.

Is this a variety?

It is spending alot of energy on trunk size.

Totally normal.Wipe it off with a wet rag if it bothers you to make the crownshaft green.

It’s normal. Yours seems to have a lot right now but they do have that especially after an old leaf comes off. Over time the elements wear the scales off and you get a smoother appearance. Like aztropic says above you can wipe the scales off and create the appearance you prefer.
