Hi Metalfan

Can you list your name so that it’s easier to reply to you, are you talking about the Vriesea fosteriana rubra we can ship to the US but it might be best if you know some one that deals in broms to order 100 and then get some from him, these have been done with tissue culture and they grow much faster than seed grown plants! we are just now trying a few palms like Licuala Mapu and L. radula with any luck we will have these available soon as well.

Gina,

Salacca magnifica is a relatively fast growing palm and definitely spectacular when it gets up in size. This one was planted in Oct 1998 from a 7G pot. It was about 6 ft tall at the time. Today it's about 20 ft.

Bo-Göran

St. Peter was giving a newcomer's tour of a remote section of the Heavenly Gardens when the recently deceased said, "This garden...these palms...I know this man's work. Did Bo Lundkvist die and come up here and plant all this?"

St. Peter said, "No, Bo is still alive. It's just God trying to make his garden look like Bo's."

Let's get off topic from the off-topic. Clayton, which % of shade gives that shadecloth used on the Neoregelia?

SuperBo wins anyway :o Well, if it is all about size, here we have some Phoenix canariensis with leaves up to 7,30 m long (24 ft), instead of the usual 4 or 5 (13-16 ft).

I apologize for the quality of these pictures but I just took digital shots of pitures in my plant album.

I wish I took these with a digital camera to begin with.

These are of neoregelias that I just wanted to share.  Might not be the sharpest pictures but I think it illustrates the beauty of the se plants well enough.

I don't remember the names of most anymore

Nice neo collection, Gene, I never get tired of looking at bromeliad photos, even if they're a little blurry.

Kim,

THanks but most of those were't mine though.  I have to admit that i have been neglecting my neos for some time now and i am having probles with not having enough space to put them in.  And you need space to get them as good looking as those in the pictures

Hi Mike, I've emailed you by the way on the pressie, I think to have proper trials once the plant is growing into something, you should give a few of the plants to a trial grower, you know, to get a proper test. So I'm volunteering, giving up my time and all that, yes I know, I'm going out of my way to help with the trialling, but I'm only too glad to help out wherever I can. I'll take three of each. Well ? you might as well make it a thorough trial.  :D

Happy Gardening

How are you growing Salacca outdoors in North Florida? My impression is that all are zone 11+.

Well, Indie, because of my Oh-So-Clever photographic skills, you cannot discern that the palm in the picture is growing inside of a greenhouse with, oh I would say approximately 1500+ other plants. ANd that's how you grow a Salacca in North FL.
