As I continue to hash out the species I will plant in the conifer garden, I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Araucaria bidwillii - particularly in Arizona.  There’s one growing at UofA, but that’s all I know of.

Can't say anything about AZ, but I think this is Araucaria bidwillii here in Central FL.  For scale, the gentleman under the tree is just under 6 feet.

Also can't speak to Arizona, but there's a tall one at Mercer Botanical Gardens. Mercer is north of Houston, so it sees some cold. It mostly looks like the lower part of kinzyjr's tree.

I have one growin in Jax -- no where near that tall ---- taken all sorts of freezes was covered in 89

That’s 30 years old!?

Hopefully mine grows slowly. I put it in a spot that will probably just barely have the space when it’s full size.  LOL

They got one of these growing down on the UofA campus in Tucson that just has the most perfect form.

Wow Ed, that's beautiful. The one at Mercer looks strange in comparison. I wonder if the flooding after Hurricane Harvey affected it.

Wow, didn't know there is one at Mercer. Going to have to look out for it. I would wager it's freeze damage, that area gets cooooold (too cold for queen palms).
