This is my Dypsis plumosa which germinated in ground 3, 4 years ago.  It's in clay soil. It has been slowly growing in its plot. Two days ago it opened its latest spear and wow! Was I surprised by the size of the leaf.

The great thing about that species is they don't take up a lot of space.

Yes, 4 in total, but alas, cats chewed and yanked two of 'em out. Then a handyman stepped on the third thinking it was grass/weed.

They ranged from plumosa to oliviformis to P. elegans.  I cant say what the three were. I finger dug the seeds 4 years ago throughout the garden sliver.  Of course, I watch the D. plumosa like a hawk.
