Just thought I would share a few pics of my variegated  dioon.  Is it just a dioon edule ? Anyone care to place a value on it ? .  Im hoping to pollinate  it why my  edule queretaro  blue pollen soon.

If they are variegated as soon as they flush it’s variegation but if they start out green and then turn half yellow it’s just a leaf dying or unhealthy.

I would agree with Steve, I don't think that is variegation.  It looks like chlorosis to me either due to energy being pulled from an older flush or nutrient related.

Ok.  I will keep a eye on the next flush.  I acquired the plant like this . I got it from a old man's garden who was a collecter, he collected variegated  plants.  He also had about 30 cycads.  Every single plant in his garden was perfect, and I mean perfect. I got varigated  cactus, bamboo, and a variegated  plumeria from him. I'd be surprised if this dioon wasn't variegated.   Jody seems to think its a merolae  also.  Thanks for the info  though. I will eagerly await the next flush .

So I did a little more research  on variegated  cycads.  I found that one of the characteristics  of a variegated  cycad  was for the petiole to be striped. So I decided  to look underneath.  Steve and Tracy whats your opinions on this view ?  The flash is on so the color is a little washed out.

I would wait and see what it does on future flushes before making any determinations.
