THAI DWARF COCONUT

Featured Replies

Thai Dwarf Coconuts have recently become available here in Guatemala. They are reputed to be true dwarfs that produce abundant full sized  nuts with a liter of water in each nut.

I bought six to try. Two photos from the web and one of my purchased cocos.

Nice I wish I could get one of those here in Texas.  Keep us updated with pictures.

The max height of these dwarfs is only 4.3 meters so for those who live in marginal climates it would be possible to provide protection for occasional light freezes.

Would like to try one myself. I'd even consider jumping for a phyto certificate for one of those.

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Very interesting!

Thank you for letting us know! It would be nice to get a hand on one

of those. The only coconuts from Thailand sold over here are picked

at a very young stage and therefore not suited for a germination project.

However, I won't give up hope. ;)

Will produce first crop in 3-4 years when it has about 1 meter of trunk. 94 cocos per year for up to 45 years. Not sure when it reaches the 4.3 meter mature height.
