Dead spots on leaflets of coconuts newest frond?

Recommended Posts

I have no idea what kind of coconut this is but it was sold as a yellow Malayan, though it looks a bit too orange for me to think that’s the case. I’m far from an expert in IDing coconuts at this size, though.

I bought it in SFL last summer for $20, hauled it up to Central FL with me, and it grew like a weed through to fall. Foliage was a little yellow at the time of potting it, so I fertilized with Palm Gain and it greened up throughout the summer. I’ve been hauling it inside any time it’s forecasted to drop below 45 here, but as I expected it would, it’s been yellowing at leaflet ends slightly throughout the winter.

That being said, what concerns me at this point are these random dead spots that formed in the last month or so on one area of the newest frond’s leaflets. Anyone know what this is from? (Pic taken in my foyer last night as it’s getting chilly here in Central FL.... again, ugh.)

Constantly wishing I could still grow zone 10 palms worry-free, but also trying to appease my strange fixation with Washingtonias.

I am not sure, could it be a deficiency due to the slow uptake of nutrients with the cooler weather?
