Been acquiring seeds like crazy this winter so wanted to try a few using hydroponic system.

only 4 cells being used so far but have other seeds coming.

system is on heat mat but not sure how much affect temp wise it will have on water temp. The tub does lay flush on mat.

success or failure will keep updated.

I'm intrigued. I've seen a few posts on here about hydroplants grown only in LECA clay and water, and it seemed to work. Some of those palms are absolute units.

They are in rock wool?

Yes. Some that came with the kit so had to use seeds that would fit in the hole.

What is that prominently featured, beautiful, dark green potted palm in the picture that has gone pinnate?

I will be very interested to see how this turns out.  I've got a tiny kid's kit, but I've been growing a tree a basil out of it for months...  Been thinking about going bigger.

  • 2 weeks later...

Planted the last seed that I was waiting for and that is a lipstick palm which should find itself quite at home in this environment compared to the others. Attached is the most recent picture and you should be able to zoom in to see each of the different species.

The lipstick seed is in a mix of orchid soil and number 3 perlite.
