Please can anyone help with advice on how to treat my palm tree? We've moved in to a new property with this palm tree at the bottom of the garden. All it's branches appear dry but one, and the trunk appears dark and 'pussy'. I've attached photos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Pictures

I don't normally follow links in posts, and I'm guessing others don't as well.  I would suggest uploading any photos in a response in this string.  Anther thing that would help is knowing where you your home is located to better understand the climate you are dealing with and potential causes of the fungus as well as solutions.  Having not seen your palm yet, I guess that presupposes it isn't a goner.  The quality of the advice we can provide will be proportional to the amount of information about your palm and climate.  Welcome to PalmTalk Paulina!

Welcome @Paulina !  Doesn't look like a palm to me in your pics, perhaps an old Dracaena of some type?

Hi Paulina,  Tracy is right but I did click your link before I thought about it and in this case it seems safe enough going to dropbox. If they are not too big you can easily drag and drop pics here

It is not a palm but I think an old Cordyline (or Dracaena).  Same problem for you though, it appears to have a stem rot and may die, I don't know if it can be fixed but I doubt it.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.

Hello, thank you for your replies. I live in South of England and we've just moved in last November so I've not seen the tree in the summer yet. It seems its not been particularly looked after. I do however like it, although somewhat odd looking, and so do the birdies. I attach photos to this comment for easy of view.  Thank you!

If the trunk isn’t soft it is probably fine any of the top branches also you need to check if they are soft and cut them back to good wood they will probably send out new shoots along the branch if there is no rot
