So, the devil winds came back in the middle of the night, which left me no prep time. My Kentia in which is in a pot outside had its only green frond (still not fully stretched out), bent backwards about 90 degrees. I tied it up to the next closest frond in the hopes that it will bounce back from getting bent so severely. It did have a crink in it from being bent backwards, so hoping I got to it quick enough that it will not stop the growth. See pics below - Pic 1 = the base where it bent and was crinked, Pic 2 &3 = tying to partner frond.

Is there a chance that this frond keeps on chugging, or do these die off when bent severely? Thanks!!

I did that with a Butia frond, and it kept on growing.  I bought three 15g pots on closeout from a local big box store, and one rolled over in the back of the van on the way home.  Two fronds were a bit twisted and one bent in half.  I hammered a stake into the ground and tied the frond to it lightly, and it seems ok 2 months later.  I'd just be concerned about tying a weak frond to a strong one...and having both bend in half!

So the Santa Ana’s we had back in late January were so bad it toppled many trees throughout Ventura. Just one example below. This happened on the street tight behind my house.

So I felt lucky overall with just having a couple of Dypsis leptocheilos each having just one leaf snap.

Overall not so bad.
