Purchased this Veitchia Winin in December at a steep discount ($39). Despite planting in December prior to our cold winter, it has pushed out that one spear all winter long - albeit rather slow. Lately the color has turned a bit yellow. Any suggestions on what I should do to boost growth and get it back healthy going into this summer?

I would guess it just needs time to get established. Veitchia are fast so it should take off once the rainy season starts.

Hi,

maybe not really important, but V. winin are the slowest among all my other Veitchia

palms. I grow V. joannis, spiralis , arecina& metiti which are all almost rocketing -

growing 2ft. during their first year (from seed) while all my V. winin havn't topped 5inches yet.

However, a very nice species!

best regards from Okinawa -

you should have already put down palm fertilizer.  It should be fine, make sure it is  good and wet every 2-3 days.

Formerly in Gilbert AZ, zone 9a/9b. Now in Palmetto, Florida Zone 9b/10a??
